Is Paul Reubens Too Gay to Play Pee-wee Herman On Broadway?

That’s one question Newsweek‘s associate editor-cum-theater critic Ramin Setoodeh will have a chance to answer, since The Pee-wee Herman Show is headed to Broadway after commercial success in Los Angeles. But if Paul Reubens isn’t playing a sexual character, but rather an over-sized kid, does that change things? Today’s secret word is … stupid arguments!

    Did Paul Reubens come out as gay? I remember the arrest that killed his career, but I don’t recall that it had something to do with another man. I thought it was for jerking off in an adult movie theatre.

    I know that his ex-boyfriend is married to Helena Bonham-Carter, and that they all hang out together, but that’s all I know.

    @greybat:

    I don’t know why I giggled at your post.

    I think it’s because you didn’t just say Tim Burton, but yeah, they still hang out as far as I know. ;)

    Queerty’s insistence in calling Paul Reubens gay is confusing. He was arrested for indecent exposure in a straight porno theater. I don’t know why people think he’s gay.

    I’m friends with a woman who worked on Pee-wee’s Playhouse and she says Paul Reubens is most definitely gay.

    Tim Burton is not Gay. That’s all I have to say.

    Gay? Straight? Bi-Sexual? Does it matter? Are you people trying to find out to see if you have a chance or what? (heh)

    Paul Reubens is bisexual. He dated John Paragon who played Jambi on Pee-wees playhouse. That’s it. Tim Burton is straight.

    I met Paul at à strip club and he may swing both ways but he is not gay….

    Paul Reubens is bisexual, he’s not gay.

    Maybe Bi; he was married (I know that don’t mean nuthin’), not the most masculine fellow, but Gay? Naw….
