The zombies on The Walking Dead have raised the ire of another subspecies that’s easy to rile: The denizens of the Twitterverse.

The death of Denise on Sunday’s episode left many fans with a bad taste in their mouths, particularly since the lesbian character is apparently the latest victim of what Vanity Fair has dubbed a “troubling TV trend:” “Bury Your Gays” or “Dead Lesbian Syndrome,” depending on which you think sounds sexier.
