Of course. But is he entitled to his privacy where spies don’t blabber the entire report back to New York’s gossips? Of course not. [Gawker]
Isn’t Anderson Cooper Entitled to a Romantic Getaway?

Didn’t sound like Cesar with him with all that makeup on.
And if Cooper would just come out, he wouldn’t BE the news but would be reportingit.
Paul
Aside from his mother’s millions, who really gives a shit about this albino closet case. Move on to somebody relevant for Christ’s sake…..
If the boy is white and over 21, Andy doesn’t want anything to do with it…..
hardmannyc
Kittys’ right. If he did a Neil Patrick Harris, “I’m gay. I’m happy. Nothing to see here, folks. Move on,” everyone would ignore it.
kitty
Paul, I for one don’t even care about his mother’s millions. None of it is going to any of us.
MT
I’m going to play devil’s advocate for a minute here (and yes I’m prepared for the scorn that is about come down on my head).
As far as I can see Anderson Cooper has no incentive to come out of the closet. The gay community has a tendency to deify every schmuck with any level of public profile who happens to be gay. Maybe the man just doesn’t doesn’t want to be a hero. Would you want to be forced to be the go-to guy for everything gay in the world? Before you jump on me with an obvious yes, think about it. You keep saying how coming out would let this poor man just get on with his life. If Lance Bass taught us anything it’s that any loser who comes out publicly immediately gets co-opted to lead the war. Any issue that comes up he’ll instantly have a gaggle of gay press on his doorstep forcing him to make a stand and a gaggle of straight press to get his “insider” opinion. God forbid he should make a stand that you don’t agree with. We all know how vicious gay people are when someone goes against the herd.
I, for one, think Anderson Cooper would be worse off if he came out just because you needling queens would never leave him alone. I mean, for God’s sake, you gave LANCE BASS credibility and a defacto leadership role just for coming out of the closet. Imagine what would happen to someone with actual credibility like AC.
Cam
Oh give me a break MT. yeah, he is staying in the closet because gay people are just so much to deal with. Lets be honest and say that he is staying in the closet probably because the CNN would drop his ass in a second if his ratings slipped and they have convinced him that if he does come out his ratings ill go down.
I love how it is encouraged for gays working in some sales office, or store, or bank to come out because people need to get to know us, but anybody who is in the public eye gets a free pass because it might effect their job? Bullshit, Cooper is WAY more safe than your average gay guy or lesbian coming out at work, shame on him.
Tylertime
Well said MT!!! It irks me to no end when Lance Bass, Rosie O’Donnell, Neil Patrick Harris, Clay Aiken became the go to people for gay issues whenever the press needed a “face”. Most of these people spent so much time in the closet trying to pass as straightthat they aren’t even versed in gay issues. Also, being a celeb takes them away from the everyday issues that affect the average gay and lesbian. These gay celebs don’t speak for me or the rest of the “community”.

I just don’t understand what this sort of post is getting you.
To me it just seems like you emphasize being gay is something shocking. Also, personal rights and the freedom to make your own decisions are your strong arguments here, not “Look, Anderson Cooper is gay too”.
If you argue the government and church shouldn’t get to make personal decisions for people to suit their agenda, and that sexuality shouldn’t matter, aren’t you just undermining your own case by doing the same thing to others by violating their privacy and outing them per news article for your own agenda, everything else be damned? Can someone be so kind as to explain this to me please, because I’m lost, tia.
@Cam Maybe Cooper is out at work? It’s not the same thing as being out to the press, it’s an extra factor people working in banks don’t have to deal with. And there’s a difference between being an actor or a journalist, as an actor you don’t have to be objective in your political stances.
Jheryn
@MT and Tylertime. Good for you. It is so refreshing to read post by people with non-militant views when it comes to being out. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. It is no ones’ business if a person is in the closet or not. In fact, it is no ones’ business what anyone does at all. Gay, straight or otherwise.
If he wants to be in the closet let him. You have no right to expect him to be an ‘example’ to other gays. Some of us, like me, do not like the spotlight and do not want unwanted attention. Just because AC is a celebrity, doesn’t mean he wants to champion any cause including the gay one. That is his right and anyone who expects him to do so is wrong. We all have a right to our privacy.
So many gays think that all gays should be ‘out and proud’. Whatever. I don’t hide my sexuality, but I also don’t go to every pride parade, stick rainbow stickers on my car, decry outrage at even the most remote possibility of a slur toward anything gay. I am comfortable with my sexuality, but it is my sexuality and no ones’ business.
You don’t see straight people declaring their ‘straightness’ all the time. What I do in my bedroom is my business, no one else’s. Same goes for AC.
@Cam. You have no clue how out he actually is at work. If you think that CNN does not realize that he is gay, you are nuts. They know. They are a news organization for Pete’s sake. So before you say “shame on him” or make any other derogatory remark about Anderson, you should get to know him personally. What’s that? That’s never going to happen? Oh, that’s right! I guess you had better not say anything negative until he publicly declares his sexuality and why he kept it to himself. Then fire away if you are not satisfied.
Ben
@MT: “I mean, for God’s sake, you gave LANCE BASS credibility and a defacto leadership role just for coming out of the closet”
What the hell planet are you on, girlfriend?
BrianZ
I think his personal life, my personal life, your personal life is just that, personal. He doesn’t owe me anything, nor I him. I would be eternally appreciative if he, and you, and everyone else who is gay or might be thought to be gay, didn’t run around fucking it up for the rest of us in whatever way you might do so but that’s just my preference. You are free to make those choices in the cozy confines of your closet or in a cheap frock on a rock yanking on your cock.
At the end of the day, isn’t being all up in everyone else’s business the root cause of most discrimination?
Life is much better when you tend to your own junk: Plus, it feels good.

Who Anderson sleeps with is nobody’s busy but his own and his partners.
IF he ever decides to address it publicly then so be it but the decision is his and his alone. He owes no one an explanation one way or another. This bs about owing it to the “community” is nonsense.
Let’s just mind our own business people.
hardmannyc
Um, hate to break it to you, MT, but it’s the straight gossip sites & mags like Enquirer & Gawker that keep beating the gay drum. But hey, don’t let facts get in the way of the self-hating.
Nitesurf
Anderson may resent always being the poster boy for the closet when there are plenty of other gay celebs who fly under the radar and whose private lives aren’t as scrutinized as his and therefore the more people “demand” that he come out, the more he digs in his heels and says fuck you.
It always amazes me that with all the gossip about Anderson’s love life, no one has ever really been able to pin down exactly who he’s with and in that way alone he’s got the upper hand on everyone.
MT
I wouldn’t know, hardmannyc, I don’t read that trash. Good on you for keeping up with it though.
The closest I’ve ever seen the mainstream media (meaning non-gay) get to this story is Kathy Griffin.
Scott
Fair is fair. I want other news anchors to come out as straight. Who’re they dating? Any extra marital affairs? Especially for: Bill Hemmer, Rob Marciano, Miguel Marquez, and Richard Engel. I want to see them on the cover of People justifying their love.
Sebbe
It wasn’t J.D. from the Real World Brooklyn was it?
Forrest
I have rainbow stickers all over my car! We need all kinds of activism. I enjoy pride parades, and working on equality issues on the local level. I have always supported in your face activism because we need to show society that we are out and proud and not going to back down until we are treated fairly.
I have never claimed to represent the gay community. I only speak for myself. A mix of approaches works the best. There are many gay people in my neighborhood. I am the only one with a rainbow flag flying. The lowkey Anderson Cooper approach is very prevalent amongst more affluent gays who want to fit into the “norm” and not make waves. Fine. But don’t belittle those of us who choose a more militant approach.

LOL cute, cuddly, rich I mean where does a girl stop?
If only I could take you serious as a newsperson. I’m sorry, I just can’t. However that has nothing to do with taking you to bed.
