Italian Politician: My Enemies Accuse Me Of Everything “Except Being Gay And Stealing Money”

393px-Silvio_Berlusconi_(2010)Silvio Berlusconi is Italy’s answer to Joe Biden: The 76-year-old media tycoon and politician, currently running for prime minister, is known for making numerous verbal gaffes.  Of course, Joe has never been convicted of tax fraud or arrested for having sex with an underage prostitute, the way Silvio has.

During a radio interview last week, Berlusconi teased that his political enemies will say anything to take him down. “[The left] accuses me of everything except being gay and stealing money from Italians,” Berlusconi said in a radio interview. “But I have a lot of gay friends. They’re friendly and funny.”

Italy will hold its election on February 24, though Berlusconi’s People of Freedom Party only commands 15%  of the vote. Berlusconi already served as prime minister from 1994 to 1995, 2001 to 2006 and 2008 to 2011.

Berlusconi, who gives Donald Trump a run for his money in the pompous-boob category, has gotten in hot water with gay comments before:  In February, he opined “I have nothing against homosexuals, let it be clear. Quite the contrary. I always thought the more gay people around, the less competition.” And last year, he defended alleged orgies at his grand villa by saying: “It’s better to be passionate about beautiful women than to be gay.”

Geez, fella, what’s with all the gay references?
