    Actually, this is not a typo. This is one of the flyers that the University of Chicago made to counterprotest the Westboro Baptist Church on 3/9/09. Quite wonderful in their mockery, I think.

    As well, I believe this event was covered by this very website. Here’s more info: http://chicagoist.com/2009/03/10/univ_of_chicago_uses_wit_to_counter.php

    The godhatesgigs.com site was around many years ago, as a direct response to Westboro’s own website. Unfortunately, it seems to be gone now, replaced with some Asian website that isn’t in English.

    @vernonvanderbilt:

    Thanks for the info, but I think you need to speak japanese or chinese or another asian language to read that site now. 🙂

    i still like the GOD HATES SHRIMP movement based on the part in the bible that says all shellfish and things that swim in the ocean that do not have fins and scales are an abomination unto god. There was a group of these GOD HATES SHRIMP people who stood outside Red Lobsters handing out flyers to all the people going to brunch after they got out of church, all going to eat as much sinful all-you-can-eat shrimp that they could. Check them out, it was very eye opening for religious people to find out they’ve been sinning all this time.

    As a christian who knows scripture there are so many different examples of how full of sh*t the God Hates F*gs and other such hate mongers are. There are 36 admonitions in the bible for heterosexuals and 6 for homosexuals (5 of those admonitions are for temple prostitutes). The one clear admonitions about gay sex put homosexuality on the level in evil with shrimp consumption and wearing cotton and linen in the same outfit. SERIOUSLY. Whether you believe in God or not please know these people and other homophobes like them use false quotes from the bible as propaganda to excuse their bigotry. Slave masters used to use the bible to defend the brutal practice and the abolitionists used it to convinced people the practice was barbaric. I think on all front people working for equality can attack the wages of homophobia. Atheists can appeal to people using facts people of faith can combat homophobia using scripture and real christian values (acceptance and love) not false christian values (hate and intolerance)
