The hits keep coming for Ivanka Trump.
First, she lost her Secret Service detail yesterday.
After a typical administration ends, family members of the outgoing president lose their security details the moment the change of power happens. But since the Trumps are special, they got an extra six months of protection, paid for by hardworking American taxpayers.
As of 12:01 p.m. EST yesterday, however, all of Donald’s adult children and their spouses lost their Secret Service protection. This means Ivanka will now have to foot the bill if she wants private security to follow her around everywhere she goes, and it’s not gonna be cheap either.

In January, she and her family took a trip to Salt Lake City that cost $63,000 in security expenses. And in May, her husband Jared traveled to Abu Dhabi, which cost $13,000. Oh, and let’s not forget that whole $3,000 monthly toilet fee.
But that’s not even the worst of it.
Because one of Ivanka’s dad’s closest allies, Tom Barrack, was just indicted on charges connected to illegal foreign lobbying on behalf of the United Arab Emirates, and it could have huge implications should he choose to cooperate with prosecutors.
In addition to allegedly working as a foreign agent, Barrack was also the chairman of Trump’s 2017 inauguration committee, which has been under investigation for potential illegal spending. Ivanka was very closely involved with the inaugural committee as well, which means Barrack probably has a looooot of dirt on her.
Though the charges against him aren’t related to his work on the inauguration committee, prosecutors could easily use that to pressure him into flipping on the Trumps in their many other investigations.
Speaking to CNN’s Erin Burnett yesterday, former Deputy Director of the FBI Andrew McCabe explained, “The indictment itself puts the government in a position of enormous leverage over Tom Barrack, and one of the ways he might try to resolve this big problem he’s got is to provide information or evidence to the government on any other investigation.”
“That could include the ongoing investigation of the inaugural committee or really anything else. So it really could open up a Pandora’s box for other people in the administration.”

Given that, you’re right. I have no faith in our government any longer. Both parties are great at rallying the troops, but neither is interested in cleaning house.

I see no house-cleaning, charges being filed, nor was any real attempt at a proper impeachment made. What we got was a circus for the people run just before elections on charges that were easy to dismiss. Then, afterward, brought late, quickly dismissed, and never spoken of again.
“The Democrats are so much better!” Well, at least they haven’t stormed the Capitol yet. But having some personal interaction with Dem politicians, however corrupt you think any politician is, multiply by around ten thousand. Regrettably, there is no Hell. Every politician would be in it.

The Ivanka link on this story is a bit of a stretch. Yes they could move towards investigating the inaugural committee but as stated the current charges against Barrack have nothing to do with the inaugural committee so why even try to make a connection? Yes it would be lovely to have the Trump families crimes exposed and to see them face actual justice but it most likely will not happen. Hating on Barbie is cute but it may end up leaving a pit in your stomach while she just counts her millions and laughs at the little folk.

While I agree the story does not make the best case for Ivanka going to prison, I am confident there is so much that we do not know about what she and the Trump mafia have done that will likely send them all to prison. The big question, and the only real question I have, is how will jailing an ex-president work? It’s new ground, but no one is above the law, or so I hope.

The tagline on the banner of this page reads, “Queerty: Free of an agenda (except the gay one),” so I’d like to pose a question: How is an article about the security detail of Ivanka Trump or whether one of her friends got indicted for something relevant to LGBT readers? This piece just reads like another hit piece on the family member of a politician. I’m a married gay man. I did not vote for Trump and don’t like him, but it often seems to me that LGBT websites that promote themselves as being about LGBT rights, equality, inclusion, etc. are sometimes instead just mouthpieces of a particular political party and are more than happy to do hit pieces on Republicans even if the piece has nothing to do with gay rights, equality, inclusion, etc. Just my two cents..

While I personally love any and all negative Dumpster stories, especially Ivanka, I have to point out that asking for an extension of Secret Service protection for family members is not unusual. Barack Obama got an extra six months for his daughters. I’m sure it has happened for other Presidents in the past. All they have to do is make a request. I will say I was particularly annoyed that ALL of Dumps adult children received the extension and I thought he would find a way to get even more time, so I’m happy to see it has ended.
