With a few exceptions—basically the usual suspects on Modern Family—the just-announced SAG nominations for television shows were a fairly straight bunch. Dexter, The Office, Friday Night Lights. Was that show still even on?
We were glad to see Jessica Lange get a nod for American Horror Story and Mary Tyler Moore is getting a much deserved lifetime achievement award. But could Glee‘s near-shutout signify the end of the gay reign during awards season?
Thankfully things on the movie front look better, with Glenn Close and Janet McTeer (Albert Nobbs), Arnie Hammer and Leonardo DiCaprio (J. Edgar), and Christopher Plummer (Beginners) all getting nods for roles that either skirted or embraced the LGBT rainbow.
Films who make the grade here often wind up on the Oscars short list, so let’s keep our fingers crossed.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.

Maybe if Glee were, you know, good, it would get more nominations. I don’t care how many gay people get nominated, I just care about the most deserving people getting nominated.
