The hype has officially worked — we can’t wait to see the James Franco-produced King Cobra, and not just because it’s a cinematic retelling of one of the most bizarre stories to ever come out of gay porn, or because Queerty gets some screen time. It’s actually supposed to be a good film from what we’ve read.

A new scene has been released, this time showing James Franco and Keegan Allen as porn star duo Viper Boyz as they pump mad iron in preparation for shooting a scene-within-a-scene.
It’s pretty hilarious, and we’re beginning to think there are more “haha” moments in the movie than we first expected.

The recurring theme in the movie “King Cobra” is that gay adult performers are dumb, have no class and they were all possibly sexually abused. Funny thing is that these scenes all went over well with the audience. The audience always laughed at every scene showing gay performers as low class and dumb – like Brent Corrigan not knowing what a “Chopin” is.
One of the funniest scenes in the movie is this dinner of fruits and various cheeses Harlow (Keegan Allen) prepared for Brent Corrigan after the murder of Stephen (Bryan Kocis). Harlow packed all of the items on a platter, not because any of the items were good together, but rather because the cheeses were expensive and had strange names.

Does any one know why the reply tab on the comments has been removed? If the reply tab has to be removed then how about going back to the thumbs up or down icon?

@MarionPaige………I just checked over on Imdb.com looking for a trailer and nothing has posted. It also only got one star in their (www.imdb.com) ratings. That’s not good. What you wrote was funny and because of that I might go see it at the theatre instead of waiting for it to hit cable.
Any idea whats up with the sound bite trailers instead of a two of three minute trailer?

back in the day, someone referred to a new Burt Reynolds movie by saying: “Burt Reynolds and his buddies got together one weekend and made a movie.”
A lot of reviewers are being nice to the movie “King Cobra” (for some reason) but, there is really nothing there to take seriously. The production itself didn’t take itself seriously as the movie was initially set to be distributed by Uwe Boll. I guess with Christian Slater’s Golden Globe win, some folks are thinking they might be able to make more money with “King Cobra” and get a better distributor. However, the more people who do see the movie, the harder it will be to keep a lid on the reality that …
James Franco and his buddies got together one weekend and made a movie.

His it just me or do others think it’s strange how obsessed James Franco is with the gay community
Xzamilio
@robho3: No… he’s just strange.

@Bob LaBlah: I still got @Reply. 🙂

Gays, porn and murder — the excessively PC activists that only want the world to see gays as husband and husband will have their rainbow panties all bunched up over this film. Can’t wait!
Bob LaBlah
@Tobi: Yes, I NOW too have it. The editor fixed the situation but it turns out that I wasn’t the only one that noticed it. I hope that repeating post problem is fixed too.
Captain Obvious
Queen Franco, lord of the closet.

That was funny.

After reading Garrett Claytons interview on Out about this movie im not the least bit interested in this film .
His attitude was off putting to say the least.
The typical uncomfortable and offensive statements.
He has a lot of maturing and growing to do especially educating himself.
Bob LaBlah
@Louis: Thank you for your comment. That was a very interesting interview and for those of us who remember this horrific killing it is well worth reading how he felt portraying one of the main characters. Thanks again.

Perhaps, in exchange for King Cobra using a screenshot of Queerty 1.0 in the movie, Queerty can get Director Justin Kelly to do an interview and provide insight into why he and James Franco were so determined to tell this story, essentially, without the support of any of the major players. It seems clear that:
1. Sean Lockhart reluctantly licensed his names to the production but provided no consultation or support for the screenplay;
2. Lockhart’s partner at the time of Kocis’ murder, a major player is the story, did not participate with the production and there is no character in the movie based on him;
3. Harlow Cuadra is still appealing his conviction so, he didn’t participate. There is likewise no indication that Joseph Kerekes participated with the production; and
4. By all indications, Bryan Kocis’ family did not participate with the true crime tv show nor with the movie.
Who’s story is King Cobra? Who or What was the motivation for the production?
Typically, with a movie, there is some participant with intimate knowledge of the story who serves as a consultant to the production or who, at the very least, is the inspiration for the production telling the story. With “King Cobra”, no one with first hand, intimate knowledge of the story or the players participated in the production.
Director Justin Kelly is jokingly referring to Harlow Cuadra and Joseph Kerekes as GTL Gays (Gym / Tan / Laundry) with James Franco saying that he and Keegan Allen could be “very broad” in their take on Cuadra and Kerekes because Cuadra and Kerekes themselves were pretty broad characters.
It has been observed by literary critics that
In all of the really great / successful true crime stories, the writers have gotten into the heads of the perpetrators with the victims of the crimes almost being reduced to bit players (In Cold Blood). Ron Goldman’s father complained at the OJ Trial that his son was being reduced to a bit player in his own murder. WITH KING COBRA, the writer and the actors had no contact with Cuadra and Kerekes nor any contact with anyone with intimate knowledge of them. The “insight” that King Cobra presents into Cuadra’s and Kerekes’ personalities in the movie therefore are caricatures that are not based on anything factual about Cuadra or Kerekes.
MarionPaige
btw, I prompted Harlow Cuadra to take a picture of himself <b.aping an Alex DeLarge pose. There is a photo on twitter of actor Keegan Allen holding up a copy of that picture of Cuadra on his smartphone. The reality is that Cuadra had never even seen the movie A Clockwork Orange

@Bob LaBlah: Nods I never will understand these peoples responses he should have never taken this role if he felt uncomfortable about it in the first place.
They always have to make a big deal out of it projecting their insecurities and general intolerances .
Of course he said some canned response about it being cool and such but its obvious he is clearly not educated about this subject matter and lacks sensitivity and tact.
Id fire his agent if I were him because they clearly are not doing a good job neither is Clayton.
