Jason Collins Is Receiving Death Threats

NBA: Milwaukee Bucks at Boston CelticsHaters gotta hate. That’s a lesson that newly out pro athlete Jason Collins is learning first-hand. While there’s been an overwhelmingly positive outpouring of admiration for the former Washington Wizards player’s decision to live his life as an out gay man, there’re naturally narrow-minded people who think he’d be better off dead.

TMZ reports that Collins has received numerous tweets from, let’s call them Twitter cowards, who have sent the following messages:

— “Yous a dead f****t talkn on tv Boy.”
—”Listening to Jason Collins describe his gayness as ‘beautiful’ makes me wanna puke. And kill him.”
— “Jason collins comes out the closet! Kill that biiitttchhhh!!!”
—”First jason collins say he gay.. Now he on espn w lipgloss on  kill him now !!!”
— “Jason Collins should get the death penalty lol how u a 7 foot gay dude lol the west is crazy smh”

They’re probably fans of these two.

Right wing terrorism, right on cue!
The fact is, some of these homophobes just provided the perfect justification for lockin’ em up!

      Does this really surprise anyone?
I mean, look at the asshats that watch most sports, beer bellied, testosterone fueled jag off for the most part.

I would report these retards to the FBI in a New York second! Then lock them up and torture them incessantly!!!

@Dakotahgeo: But they’re probably not brown, so there’s no chance of that.

Also the names were already noted long before by the usual channels, and some items are already in motion.

@MK Ultra: Rob halford got death threats when he came out. I never stopped listening to him or admiring him for coming out of the closet when he did. Hell, i even blew him a kiss when was on stage at a club in old bridge N.J. he just smiled and winked at me while he continued to sing!

@2eo: On the first part, sadly I’d agree with you, but we can always hope.

Mrs. Obama told Collins “we’ve got your back.” I guess it was too much to hope even a week could go by before that one would need teeth.

But didn’t all the homophobes assure us that “nobody cares if he’s gay or not”?

When people make death threats via twitter or other online means, it can be traced back to the person. Those people are evil AND stupid! The police should be contacted immediately!

4 out of 5 of the tweets were from black men, it was obvious by the way they destroyed the English language. So many black men are on the DL, “down low”, sucking and f–king or getting f–ked by men. Go to any of the man to man connect sites and you will see it. If the authorities don’t do something about all the vile tweets, saying they want to kill him, then something is wrong with the system.

@cjc1414: As a Black person I could scold you for indulging in rank stereotypical assumptions, but what would be the point? Though plenty of Whites are more than capable of fracturing written (and spoken) English, the syntax here looks suspiciously familiar, so you’re probably correct. sigh.
Yeah, there are a hell of a lot of Black men on the DL–but this kind of mindless hatemongering is as much about ignorant insecurity fueled by cherry-picking religiosity as sexual hypocrisy.
…um, what were those sites again..? ;-)

I think everyone is being played. Collin is an absolute nobody. Rated at 13 in a team of 13. I don’t know if he’s actually gay or not. But a big part of me is thinking his coming out is a desperate move to improve his marketability knowing the current political atmosphere that promotes anything, anyone gay.

How can the team dump him now? If they do another team will surely snap him right up. I feel for the team being stuck with a poor player or facing the public wrath in firing him now that he’s an alleged gay man. I think that’s all this move was about. Me thinks he is crazy like a fox.

Coming out always makes closet cases envious and desperate…

@Marjorie 0120: Are you serious? He may not be a marquee player, but no one, who is really straight, is going to come out just for publicity.

Here in Finland no sportman- or woman has not came out. I’m afraid, that in a country, where ice-hockey is a national game, that will never happen. But I’m very proud, that Jason Collins had the courage.
Ps. I’m sorry for my poor English.

@Milana: Your english is just just fine sir. It is better than most of us who uses english as a national language.

      @Caleb in SC:
Hey, I could be 100% wrong, but I don’t think so. I think he knows his contract was not going to be renewed and this is simply the act of a desparate man. You don’t have to be real brave or a rocket scientist to gage the public’s reaction to those souls coming out at this point in time. His team is now in a damned if you do and damned if you don’t position as far as giving this guy his walking papers.

Just because he’s not a good player doesn’t mean he’s stupid and I think this was a brilliant move to secure his future, even the prez congratulated him (which of course he did not know would happen) but he did know he would win the hearts and minds of gays and their supporters along with setting the stage for a lawsuit if canned. JMHO, but something in his story reeks to me. LadyL thanks for the chuckle, you could be right, lol.

Milana, I think you are doing just fine in your posting in English! I tried learning a few phrases in Finnish for a job interview and I failed miserably, lol.
