Never much cared fot the show because of the gay stereotyping that homophobes thrive on and promote. I guess anything goes for a laugh at our expense. Why couldn’t both be non-camp for a change. There are other straight characters in the show to provide enough laughs.

Agreed, Cam is almost unteachable. And now that they were forced to have them kiss once they have desexualized them even more and made Cam a complete Characture. He seems to be doing a poor imitation of Nathan Lane in the “Birdcage”
All the other couples have moments where they are nice to each other. Cam and Mitchel do nothing but snap and bicker. It’s just ridiculous at this point.

Mr. Romney made mention of the fact that he watches a show with gay characters featured prominently, and one of them is wise enough to acknowledge the irony and juxtaposition of an opponent being exposed and entertained by what is essentially the most fully realized storyline to bring awareness to what we (the LGBT) are fighting for, an opponent who may (just may) be ready to change his mind. And all several of you can do is complain about how caricature the portrayal is, and how detrimental to those of us not exactly like those seen on screen??? I am nothing like either of those two, know some who are, but I am happy to laugh and more than happy to appreciate what they and their adopted daughter and accepting family have done to change many peoples minds about what it means to be gay…for some of us. And if that portrait includes poetic license for the sake of the joke, so be it! Do you think QAF or Noah’s Ark or any of our own communities’ self produced, written, acted by, and popular product has been much less stereotypical (and not in a good light???)
We all take off our shoes the same way, be it pumps, sneakers, dress shoes, boots or flip flops…enjoy the show or don’t, the point is, Mr. Ferguson was wise enough to point out that Mr. Romney might want to think deeper than he may have previously thought on the subject…

Yes, a PC version. Oh give it a rest, we’re not talking about Jack in Will and Grace who was a loved character. We are talking about a show, that when it was pointed out that the gay couple had never kissed released a statement saying that gays were lucky they even had a gay couple on the show. That makes their thinking very plain.
You claim the couple is fully realized? Really? Point out an episode where they are appear to care for each other and aren’t snapping and turning hysterical at the smallest thing. With every other couple on that show you see regular moments where you get why they are together. Not so with Mitch and Cam. And the days of gays being happy just because somebody remembered we exist are long gone.

How about when Cam stood up for Mitchell against the guy at the gas station? Protecting the man he loved? And fully realized in the sense that they are a functional family, traditionally so for sitcoms (which this is btw) sharing a bed, caring for each other when sick, raising a child, cleaning up messes, seeing each other’s faults, etc etc etc…it doesn’t fit into your pigeonhole perception of life, but it fits into others…

Defending somebody is not the same as showing one single moment of friendliness or care. Every other couple in there is at least friendly or mildly affectionate. A hand gesture, a smile.
But no, every time anything is done it always ends up with Cam having some hysterical fit, or getting dramatic and angry. The only time affection IS shown, it is oddly desexualized. A hug rather than a kiss.
You seem to have some sense of identification with the show or something because it is blatant. Nathan Lane and Robin Williams expressed more affection for each other in “The Bird Cage” than this couple does and that was almost 2 decades ago.
