PAPA DON'T PREACH

Jessica Simpson’s Dad Reportedly Gay, Jessica Simpson Reportedly Fine With It

The rumor mill’s been a little off its game recently, but the National Enquirer, in true fashion, has come to the rescue. A source tells the rag that Jessica Simpson’s dad, Joe Simpson, has come out of the closet, prompting mom Tina to file for divorce after 34 years of marriage.

Radar reports:

“Joe got the family together about two months ago and came out of the closet,” an insider divulged. “He told them that he’d tried to continue in his marriage to Tina, but he couldn’t go on any longer and deny the fact that he had these feelings for men.

“Joe said it wasn’t fair to her, and it wasn’t fair to him.”

Papa Joe, a former Baptist pastor and youth minister, has apparently shacked up with a 20-year-old boytoy, according to sources. The alleged boytoy may have been in the car with Joe when he was pulled over for drunk driving in August.

For her part, Jessica is taking things in stride.

She is said to be “completely blindsided” by the news and feels particularly bad for her mother, Tina. “Jessica’s been trying to process the information slowly, but she’s having difficulty dealing with it,” a source told Radar. “She can’t understand why Joe stayed married to Tina for so long, and can’t help wondering how much of their life was a lie.”

The popstar cum designer also can’t understand how she missed it all these years. “Jessica had absolutely no clue that her father was gay, not even the slightest inkling,” said the source. “She thinks she has very good gaydar, especially since a lot of her friends are gay, but she did not see this coming at all.”

In spite of the divorce drama, the source affirmed that Jessica will stand by her father and support his decision. “After all, he’s still her father and Joe’s always been there for Jessica whenever she’s needed him… And not just as a father, but as her manager too.”
