[My husband Todd] and I both had [COVID-19] early on. It was like the middle of March. We thought we had colds. And then it seemed less likely, and then finally we lost our sense of smell and taste. It defied the descriptions for me. I didn’t realize how completely taste and smell could be gone. When you’re in quarantine, and there’s really nothing to do but eat, oh, my God that was brutal. I ate everything, but I just didn’t taste it. Definition of wasted calories!”— Jim Parsons to Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show

I had it as well… In general, it’s not that horrifying or different from a strong flu as people may think (unless you’re unlucky and it develops to pneumonia). Really, the worst part is the loss of smell and taste. It’s completely gone! Everything you drink it is as if you’re drinking water, and food is so dull you don’t even want to eat anymore.

“it’s not that horrifying or different from a strong flu as people may think (unless you’re unlucky and it develops to pneumonia)” I know 207,000 people who would disagree.
And you don’t need to develop strong respiratory symptoms. You can have vascular symptoms leading to stroke or brain aneurism. Please, don’t extrapolate your experience to the rest of the world. You are not everyone. Just today a 19 year old college student in NC, an athlete, died because of neurological complications. Learn something about it before you share.

@queerjubu As I said: “unless you’re unlucky”.
The vast majority of people who gets it, don’t develop those symptoms. I stayed quarantined and still got it from others.

I’ve avoided it so far (in a hard-hit section of a hard-hit state). But only by both of us staying very deeply quarantined. For months now.
I’m glad Jim and his husband got over it so well!

I wasn’t so lucky, I didn’t leave the house in 5 months, but unfortunately my brother wasn’t so supportive of the quarantine. He got it, a few days later, I got it from him.
Liquid Silver
@Raphael: I hope you and your brother have recovered without lasting after-effects!

Thank you Raphael, your medical degree and months of in-depth research of those labeled positive. Is so reassuring.

LOL What makes you think I need or want your approval? I’m telling my experience and what I saw. If you don’t like it, fine… But, just so I can clarify and not have to explain it to everyone who doesn’t know how to interpret a text, here it goes:
I didn’t say anywhere in my comment that people should break quarantine and go to the streets. I stayed quarantined as well. If you can avoid getting it, great. Why risk it, right? I’m just saying that, if you do end up getting it, MOST LIKELY, it’s not going to be as terrible and scaring as you might think it would. That’s all I said.
For anyone who shares “@queerjubu”, @garybw” and “@Consider This” opinions; this reply is for you as well.
Consider This
Agree with queerjubu and garybw. We are still in the rather early discovery phase for much of the long-term damage many will suffer post-COVID.
Let’s stop characterizing it as largely not that serious. It IS as serious a threat as has been seen in many decades. Perhaps even Trump will change his tune shortly…

So sick of all these celebrities and politicians announcing they survived covid. Most of them were not doing the right thing and then they run to twitter for sympathy.
