Her life and friends are her business, not ours. Nothing worse than stars, gay or straight, parading their personal lives, children, surrogate children, relationships, etc. for the world to consume. Actors should do their jobs like the rest of us and live their personal lives in private. They owe us nothing other than a good performance on screen or stage, nothing more. @justiceontherocks: The fear of coming out, rational or not, is what ultimately holds people back. How long did it take you and countless others to come out to their families? The times are varied. Some don’t come out at all. The point is that it is a comfort thing and a personal thing. It is the person’s choice to come out. If she is not ready, leave it be. You wouldn’t put the same amount of pressure on a random person walking on the street, would you? How about a coworker? There is more to coming out than public recognition… there are more people affected than just the star doing so. If she or they feel it is a delicate personal matter, so be it. I won’t lose sleep over any celebrity opting to stay in the closet. I’d rather focus my energy on things that I actually have some control or power over.

Polanski KNOWINGLY plied a 13-year-old girl with champagne and quaaludes, then he raped her semi-conscious body. All this he conceded when he copped a plea in a deal proposed by the victim’s mother.
“The grand jury charged Polanski with giving a drug to a minor, committing a lewd act upon a person less than 14, rape of a minor, rape by use of a drug, oral copulation and sodomy. All the charges are felonies.” The Washington Post, 26 March 1977
That means that the grand jury, having reviewed ALL the prosecution’s evidence, agreed it was sufficient. The medical examiner’s report is only one piece of evidence.
The plea deal was that the state would not prosecute those charges in exchange for Polanski’s guilty plea on the charge of Unlawful Sexual Intercourse with a Minor (what California calls statutory rape).
The fact that he copped a plea only means he was convicted of statutory rape. It does not mean Polanski was acquitted of the other charges. He didn’t even attempt to exonerate himself in court of those charges, and I have no doubt he committed every one of them.
Just because Polanski beat the system doesn’t mean he didn’t do it. (See also, O.J. Simpson).
