Somehow, the gays will blame Adam Lambert because we HATE flamboyant out gays! Stephen Colbert who has openly played gay in the Strangers With Candy movie is, a straight man comfortable in his own skin much like his mentor, John Stewart. Remember, these are our allies, not so much Queerty. When Johnny Weir comes out, most people will respond “I already thought he was OUT!”

Why does @Cam insist on Johnny Weir coming out? Johnny is one of those gay guys who were born out. I can imagine having to come out to my mum. She’ll probably laugh at me bcoz she probably had known even before i could walk.

Johnny doesn’t have to call a press conference and say ‘im gay’. He admits it pretty much every time he steps on ice with his fur and glitter.

  • GetReal

If Johnny is willing to “admit” he’s gay everytime he gets on the ice, why won’t he admit it when asked about it off the ice? I’m sure he thinks he’s pretty fierce, but he’s still a closet case.

Close to 30…and looking like a teenager.

    I hate him. LOL

Not true. I think he’s one cool dude. ;P

@SouLKid: I am a big fan of Johnny qWeir. I love his fcuk you attitute. And I hate to keep posting same info, but its important that everyone know little back story about qWeir. He is the epitimy of dancing (skating) to your own drummer. When he was ranked #1 the US Figure Skating ASSocation refused to post his picture on their website, wanting to portray a “more masculine image” for figure skating. (huh?) He is who he is, I admire him for that. I honestly feel that being Johnny qWeir is what cost him the bronze. He was, I am pretty sure given the only ovation during the olympics after his skate. What I can not do as a Gay is get outraged about his treatment, nor fire off missives to those who denegrate him for his behaviour becasue he refuses to admit what I think is farily obvious that he is Gay…… Its a Mike Manning clusterfcuk about him claiming to be Bi, he simply says he is not Gay. So it makes it tough for the Gay community to say that he is being subject to homophobic hate being spewed towards him, because according to him its not because he is Gay………….

Terwill, I too am a big fan of Johnny Weir and I hear what you are saying. Sadly, we can’t come to his defense as one of our own, because of the reasons you stated, and that is too bad.

Could it just be possible, however, that Johnny Weir prefers to not admit to being gay, not because he wishes to remain in the closet, but simply because he does not want people thinking that he is using being gay as a crutch for not winning gold and wishes to do so on his own merits as a human being first, and a gay person second?

Bear in mind, there are many who would have no compunctions about doing just that (using the gay card) and in my book, if that is the case, then Johnny has more integrity in his little toe, than a good many other people have and which would make me respect and admire him all the more.

    Just sayin…

Dang. The add images feature doesn’t seem to work. I typed the URL in as the box requested, but this is what comes up. Perhaps, it is because I tried to send something that came in my mailbox? Copy and paste does not work either. ;(

Anyway, what I wanted y’all to see, with respect to Johnny Weir’s being gay or not, was a picture of a gorgeous, young hunk sitting in an easy chair holding a football in his hands. This was the caption beneath it.

THINK THAT YOU MIGHT BE GAY BUT YOU ARE NOT SURE? TAKE THIS TEST

If you think the guy in the chair is cute, then you might be gay.

If it occurred to you how ugly the chair is, then you ARE gay!

He is not a closet case. I can’t even believe I’m typing this, but I have watched his Sundance program and if you can’t ascertain his sexuality from his adventures in life then you’re obtuse. Does he go around the world calling himself a white man ? Isn’t it obvious ? All of his admirers get it.

For the record other alleged closet cases in the spotlight would never do the things he’s doing for fear of being known as a homosexual.

A lot of people on this website SUCK.

Watch Colbert sometimes, but I guess I missed this show. Saw yesterday’s show which had a funny comment using Johnny’s crown of roses. Amusing rather than snide or cruel. I give Colbert points in the way he treats us generally.

I love Colbert! I’d totally hit that:)

Might even invite Johnny along for the fun.

I wonder if this interview will be tied in with the Pride House segment (airing tonight, I believe)….

Basically what you two are doing is using the fact that he fits the stereotype that the gay community keeps saying is “Unfair” to say that he is gay. So two things.

    1. We as gay people tell the world that it is unfair to stereotype us by putting us into the catagory of “Gays are feminine, queeny, and wear outrageous clothing. Yet you are saying beyond a shadow of a doubt that Johnny Weir is gay because he fits the very same stereotype that the community says is an infair characterization.

    2. I don’t insist that he come out. I’m just not going to rise to the defense of somebody for being gay if they have never said that they are gay. Rudy Galindo came out a year or two before he won the national championships…..yes, he was out, he’d written a book saying he was out and he was still judged the National champ.

I’m solidly behind you, Cam. Your points were well articulated.

I didn’t mind the fact that No.13-meery has a different viewpoint to share with us. This is after all, a democracy and we are all entitled to our opinions and viewpoints.

What I did mind, was his superior and judgmental comment that “A lot of people on this site suck.”

I guess he simply does not realize that his comment also “sucks”.

@meery: Unfortunately too many people on these threads tend to want to attack posters prior to reading the comments. Yes in order for the Gay community to defend him he needs to say the words “I am Gay”. Instead he plays coy games and comes out and says he is not Gay.
If you read my post in this thread, I actually like Johnny qWeir (I even made it easier by adding the “q” for him!). I 100% think he was denied a medal for his ways. What I do not like is him insinuating that he is being persecuted for being Gay when he wont’ admit to being Gay!!!

@terrwill: You’re comments are right on. If I provide my “gay” support to someone who won’t admit he’s gay based only on the fact that he acts in an effeminate or stereotypical manner, then I’m discriminating against closeted guys who won’t admit they’re gay, but don’t act in such an effeminate or stereotypical manner.
