More details are coming out in the sexual harassment suit against former North Carolina Democratic Party chief Jay Parmley, and—surprise, surprise—it appears that Parmley is a real sleazebag.
WRAL catalogs the accusations made by junior staffer Adriadn Ortega , which appear in full in a letter below:
* “The Executive Director often solicited my opinion on his clothes. He would point both hands to his crotch and ask me how his crotch looked in those pants”
*”The Executive Director would frequently pretend to punch my crotch and make a popping noise with his mouth”
*”The Executive Director frequently gave me unwanted shoulder rubs despite my verbal objections”
* “on July 28, 2011, the Executive Director discussed, in detail, his sexual activities”
And that’s not all, folks. From the letter’s direct text:
“On July 28, 2011, the Executive Director discussed, in detail, his sexual activities from when he was living in South Carolina. In addition, he discussed in detail his sexual activities from when he moved to North Carolina, where he solicited sex from gay websites such as [REDACTED].”
Ortega also alleges that Parmley “showed me a picture of a penis.”
Ew ew ew.

I wonder if Parmley will follow the example of Clarence Thomas and just deny it all?

:/ Something about Ortega’s story screams extortion.. I don’t doubt this guy said those nasty things but i doubt a politician is going to say and do that type of shit ESPECIALLY in the workplace, unless he was lead to believe you wouldn’t mind. He had to have known this was a possibility if his advances were truly unwanted. Ortega is obviously “One of the Girls”.. Parmley looks like the lonely and easily manipulated type. I could totally see it. You wouldn’t share your sexual history with someone unless you already had sex with them. He obviously missed a payment.

Sure, iluvcakes, because no politician ever acted inappropriately despite someone’s objections.

Adrian might be making some of the comments up, but Parley did hit me up a few times on gay.com back when I was an undergad.

Re No. 3 · FilmBuff1822 : since there was a “keep quiet” agreement as part of a settlement, it’s not clear what actually happened (or even if the letter Queerty showed above was actually written by Orgeta). One might note though that someone behaving as Parmley is alleged to have behaved would nearly certainly have a history of sexual harassment, so having only a single victim complain would seem a bit odd.

Then you have never worked around politicians. They start feeling like they can say or do anything they want. They will scream, curse and hurl abuse at staff, they will throw things, they will say things that would get anybody anyplace else fired etc…
I would have doubted the story if he claimed that his boss was being discreet.

I question if the “objections” were consistently voiced and the extent of their relationship, as disclosed, seems incomplete. SOmeone asks you how their crotch looks you say “WTF. Gross. i don’t know” and they don’t do it again.

@tj:
Not if they’re your boss and you need the job. IF he gets fired from this his carrer in politics in the state is over.
Look at Gingrich’s wife. She started out as a staffer, slept with him and got multiple promotions until she was chieff of staff in a very short time. IF she’d told him to F-OFF, there goes her job and any reference.

Remember when those allegations cropped up around Herman Cain? The evidence for them was also scant, but everybody was calling for his head. Now that it happened to a liberal, commenters here are trying desperately to cast doubts on the story. Liberals can be scumbags, too.
Not the same
I’m not a liberal, but a single person making accusations (as in this case) is quite different from a half dozen people over a long period of time coming forward (as in the case of Herman Cain).
Pretending otherwise is partisanship at its dumbest.
