“It’s your job to parent them. If you’re the parent, be the parent,” Eminem says about America’s stellar child-rearers letting their kids listen to his gay bashing music. In an interview with Anderson Cooper on 60 Minutes, the resurrected rapper says he uses words like “faggot” because “the scene that I came up in, that word was thrown around so much. ‘Faggot’ was thrown around constantly to each other other in battling.” Does that mean, asks Anderson, he doesn’t like gay people? “No.” (He says otherwise in his actual lyrics.) So how come Em was attacked by groups like GLAAD for his language choice? Perhaps, he says, “the color of my skin.”

He’s such a dumbass.

Heh. I love Eminem!

Eminem claims no cussing in his home in raising his children, but freely saturates his “music” with vile lyrics-hmm, how do you spell hypocrite? Split conscience?
uhoh
“Gay bashing music,” my ass. Eminem hasn’t made any slanderous remarks about gays in his music since his 2000 album The Marshall Mathers LP. Ten fucking years ago (and that was as much for attention as Lady Gaga’s meat dress) and people still pounce on it like the sum of everything he does is or has been some sort of crusade against gay people. Presidents and hairstyles have changed (including his) since he last spewed homophobic lyrics.
I knew Queerty would post about Eminem’s 60 Minutes interview and try to twist, exaggerate and incite for the sake of posturing and generating comments. Just like the whole 50 Cent pussy eating comment. So transparent.
BTW, Eminem was right. Once when I was a preteen, I came home one day and saw that my CD collection looked lighter than it had. Why? Because that afternoon my mother went through it and tossed out music that had explicit labels and song titles. If a parent doesn’t want their kids exposed to profanity or questionable language, then they need to be more involved and set house rules about what IS and ISN’T acceptable, instead of allowing mass media to babysit.

For the record, Eminem called Moby a “baldheaded fag” in “Without Me” in 2002. I haven’t followed his music closely since then, but it wouldn’t surprise me if there were more recent examples as well.
Pucifer
Queer folks defending Eminem? Is that another oxymoron like “Log Cabin Republicans” — seeking approval from the oppressors?
Jouin
Oh yeah? what about if I’d call you white trash, wigger, etc. But hey that’s not what I meant right? how naive in failing to recognize how words and intentions have a considerable external influence. Plus saying that you still use that word because you got it from the place you were raised in or whatever milieu you were involved in is so pathetic and infantile, sounds like your typical childish peer pressure-related excuse. Maintaining his ‘image’ or his ‘street cred’ (whatever that is) might be the crucial predominant factor in all this however.
skzip888
SO, he doesn’t hate us, he just doesn’t respect us. If you insult someone (straight) for their neighborhood, their branch of the military or their favorite fucking sports team its treason. They can insult your sexual orientation all they want. If your’re going to use your “scene” as an excuse, I suggest you seek an audience there. I’m pretty sure Lady Gaga is God punishing straight people crap like this.
UpStaircase
You have to understand that “Eminem” is a created character. I heard he’s actually from the UK and that his whole life story is a created work of fiction by his managers. But, in the real world, it does seem like the most homophobic whites are “wiggers.” At least in my neighborhood.
acem
“Wigger” is an offensive term. Knock it off.

Look at his body language.
Looking to the left when speaking
Hand covering mouth
Blinking and facial ticks
Hand shrugs
Nervous laughter
Not very honest.

Every one of his albums has had some kind of negative shit tossed our way…….
I take a whole bunch ‘o satisfaction in knowing that he supposdly possesses what is described as a slight step above a micro p e n i s………..*Ha Ha tiny dick*

Why is Anderson Cooper even talking to this media whore Eminem? Eminem is a piece of diarrhea from a gorilla’s backside. His “music” is horrible, a combination of screaming in a girly growl and black back-up howls
As for Cooper, didn’t he complain the other day about the word “fag” being in a movie trailer? Why is he now giving vindication to a piece of epithet-spewing shit? Anderson, thy name is douchebag.
scott ny'er
@jason: Because he is a journalist and they are supposed to report on news not make opinions about it. That’s what a good journalist does.
Gett
@scott ny’er: A journalist doesn’t have to give a platform to every hater who happens to make a billion.

I have no hate for Eminem. I’m just hoping people will stop paying attention to him, so he’s just go away.

Our favorite bear wrote the most touching article about being gay:

Gary B.
I have to love the irony of him saying he’s singled out for being misogynistic or homophobic. The reason? Reverse racism! Oh, please…
Anderson Cooper has done nothing wrong here at all. He’s just asking questions, and he asked some great ones – some very direct and important ones. Eminem answered and then people can make up their own minds.
Personally, I can’t stand rap at all, even without terms degrading to women and LGBT people. What Eminem is saying in this interview and what his lyrics that were quoted say, seem pretty contradictory to me. If you really have no problem with gay people, why did you have to go there in your lyrics in the first place that you know are influencing millions of young people?
Hopefully he’s evolved and won’t make the same mistakes again.
alan brickman
Anderson Cooper is such a famewhore…he only typically cares about one gay….himself…
AdonisOfFire
Maybe Eminem is still mad at himself for the gay for pay things he did when he was younger đ
scott ny'er
@Gett: “every hater”? C’mon. Get real. No exaggeration there.
Just last week he was the one who exposed Shirvell to the masses.
AdonisOfFire
He still mad at himself coz of his gay for pay days when younger đ

The Coop is beginning to lose his credibility as a journalist when he interviews this washed-up asshat who still thinks it the late 90’s. Like when wannabe journalist Matt Lauer interviews Britney Spears.

Eminem is a lot of things but he’s not a media whore. He’s never been very open or available to the press and he has only just emerged after becoming a recluse and completely disappearing from the public scene for years.
Anyone who knows anything about rap can also tell you he’s very technically skilled as a wordsmith and performer. His content has left something to be desired, but from a technical stand point he is really talented and skilled.
As for Cooper, didn’t he complain the other day about the word “fag” being in a movie trailer? Why is he now giving vindication to a piece of epithet-spewing shit? Anderson, thy name is douchebag.
He is doing a profile of a major figure from music for 60 Minutes as a journalist. They regularly do profiles of well known entertainers and atheletes. As was appropriate, he brought up the issue of misogyny and homophobia, had Eminem answer what he had to say and presented that as part of the portrait of the man. He read the worst lyrics Eminem has produced about gays and lesbians in the segment when he was putting the issue to Eminem.
Like most 60 Minutes reports this piece had been in the can for a while before it was aired. It wasn’t filmed this week. Most of the interviews were done in the summer long before the Vince Vaughn trailer existed.
B. Hill
Eminem’s latest CD “Recovery” is the TOP SELLING album of 2010. I especially love that this year he’s outsold gay dating relics like Gaga and Glambert. And earlier this year he was named the top selling artists OF the ’00s by Billboard magazine. “Washed up?” Hardly. “Ignore him so that he’ll fade away?” It’s been 11 years since his debut album, is still here and has basically ruled the music world since his introduction. Yeah, go ahead and hold your breath waiting for big, bad gay-hating Em to disappear.
LOL
AdonisOfFire
@B. Hill:
Bitch take a fucking seat, as much as you wanna suck on his hairless little prick he would probably bust your head open before you get the chance to even get too close to him. He HATES YOU, and let me quote:
âMy words are like a dagger with a jagged edge. And Iâll stab you in the head, whether youâre a fag or les. A homosex, hermaph, or a transeves. Homophobic? Hey fags, the answerâs yes. Nah, youâre just heterophobic.â – Eminem.
âIâm ready to make everyoneâs throats ache. You faggots keep egging me on till I have you at knife point, then you beg me to stop?â – Eminem
“Sorry, Lance, Mr. Lambert and Aiken ain’t gonna make it. They get so upset when I call them both faggots” – Eminem
Sophie
I think Eminem can be a genius with lyrics, but his homophobic slurs are unacceptable. I really hope he changes his attitude.
wompman
This douche still looks like a potato, but now he’s getting a little old for this crap. And B. Hill, popularity does not equal quality, that lesson should been obvious for anyone who’s been through high school.
kenny
Eminem is as ignorant as it gets when it comes to anything having to do with the LGBT community.Disgraceful person and human being.
Meher Zaman
And he walked out at the VMA’s when Bruno flashed his a-s in his face because…… OH YEAH. HE’S HOMOPHOBIC! Actions speak louder than words!
David Ehrenstein
Anderson Cooper is Dead to me.
rrr
@Meher Zaman: That whole VMA scene was a set up joke publicity stunt between Sacha Baron Cohen and Eminem. That’s why Eminem obligingly and conveniently stayed seated and in his place while Bruno gradually lowered onto his lap and why none of the big black guys of Eminem’s entourage who were seated right around him even took the easy measure of pushing dangling Bruno to the side as he lowered.
SBC set up the stunt with Pamela Anderson for the movie Borat too. In real life if you try to assault or kidnap Pamela at a signing event she stays where she is or steps to the side while her security immediately steps in. She would never go running from the building by herself and you’d never get a chance to chase her out of the building and around a parking lot like that.
B. Hill
@AdonisOfFire: No, bitch…you take a fucking seat. My position stands. And I ADORE seeing gay guys like you get so up and arms over Eminem, who continues to dominate the music industry, with their not being a damn thing you can do about it. I love that his so-called “homophobia” is of no consequence to the greater music buying public. Knowing that a largely white heterosexual male audience continues to keep this guys career going strong HAS to feel like a roundabout snub.
You’ve been complaining about him for a decade and he’s still here, and dominating. I guess some things the Gay Mafia just can’t control! đ
In the meantime, Eminem LEADS the nominations for this years American Music Awards. With 10. More than Gaga. I wonder if he’ll come to the ceremony escorted by discharged soldiers under the policy of DADT. If he performs, I wonder if ABC will censor him like they did Lambert.
LOL!
B. Hill
This just in:
Eminem tapes a “It Gets Better” PSA for gay teens.
Bwahahahaha.

@B. Hill: Why do you “adore seeing gay guys up in arms over Eminem”? Why would you think that’s ok?
prohomo
@B. Hill: Why do you “adore seeing gay guys up in arms over Eminem”? Why would you think that’s ok? So you’re saying homophobia is acceptable because of the indifferent majority??!
notgonnagothere
So Eminem, it was okay for bullies to make life so miserable for gay kids to the point where a number have committed suicide? He either doesn’t get it, doesn’t care, or won’t take responsibility for lyrics that fuel violence. What a jerk.
I know that it’s cliche to say that homophobes are secretly gay or bi. I suspect Eminem is straight. Still, if he happens to be gay or bi, Eminem could better this situation by being honest about his sexuality and apologizing to those that he has hurt. I doubt he’ll make an apology regardless of his sexuality.
Homask
@B. Hill: You’re the perfect example of a rap fan: a sadist who gets off on humiliating other people. And you’re absolutely right, many people, gay and straight, live their lives by S and M. It’s as common as dirt. The ones who aren’t dishing out humiliation in everyday situations are seeking out ways to be hurt and humiliated by others. Such as a gay person being an Eminem fan, or worse, defending him publicly. Now tell us again about the incredible musical talent on display here as if this had anything to do with his popularity or why he makes you feel so good.
L.
“The color of my skin”?
You mean GLAAD has something against pasty-white?
rocket
@B. Hill: Why is such a hateful and homophobic jerk posting on QUEERty? Shouldn’t you be on Fox or a Tea Baggin’ site? You must really be deeply closeted to be here.

its a good album
