Kanye West had quite an anti-gay slip-up yesterday. The pro-homo hip-hop star, who has long dogged by gay rumors, reportedly worries about what people think of his womanly ways:
It’s like what if your drawbacks ended up being your superpower? I’ve always had an issue with masculinity. I’m like, ‘I hope this person isn’t looking at me like I’m a faggot ’cause I have some feminine ways.’ Maybe I’m not the guy who kicks off (a fight) in a club. Now I’m a 30-year-old, I’ve accepted that.
Because of that I’ve ended up having the No.1 album.
What queer logic. Our sister over at Stereohyped suspects this may be a misquote – considering West’s gay activism, we’re inclined to agree. Or perhaps “the f-word” has become as ingrained in our culture as “the n-word” once was…
What’s with all these x-words? We’ve got two f-words, the n-word and the h-word. We’re running out of alphabet here!

I seems to me that Kanye let slip with a word that has all to the detriment of us all, become a part of the lexicon. Let’s hope that reminders like this will begin to emphasize just how offensive this word is. But Kanye himself, I think misspoke rather than actually meaning harm.

Like I wrote in the Jerry Lewis apology thread; people who profess to be pro-LGBTQ always have anti-gay slurs on the tip of their tongue. It’s as if they figure because they’ve said some nice things about us, it gives them an out–so to speak–to use anti-gay language.

I’m torn on this one. In general, if you’re not gay you don’t get to say the word “faggot”.
On the other hand, all power to him for working to fight the idea that feminine=gay and masculine=straight. It’s also nice to see non-twink musician address issues of masculinity.

I dunno. He does pretty much act like a flaming f*ggot. I’m not sure there was a slip-up. Carry on homos.
Vinny
P.S….How is is derogatory? Some people do in fact act like f*ggots. Some aren’t necessarily gay. Enough with the political correctness. Let’s not pretend gay guys don’t act like pansies. No offense. Just speaking truth.

@Vinny: So some people do but man don’t spread hate! And I do think Kanye is gay… it would actually be really cool if he lead the way for gay rappers! I mean, he loves his ego why not pin “Leader in gay hiphop movement” to the list???
Vinny
@ Tucker…Okay so maybe a bit cruel. I’ll give you that. I should be a little less of a prick. But man, the last thing hip hop needs is a gay rapper. Seriously. Not a good idea. Seriously. Not just saying that as a straight male. It just would not work. Just like I wouldn’t trust a straight male hairstylist. 😛 (I know, there are always exceptions)….but no, a gay rapper is a bad idea. For one, of all the gay co-workers I’ve had, exactly zero of them liked rap. Which I had no problems with. They couldn’t relate to the stuff. Understandable. Second, no straight males would listen to a gay rapper. It’s kind of pointless. That said, no one does broadway or showtunes like the gays. 😛 And though most theatrical stuff is like nails on a chalkboard to me, I did go to a cool play once with the ex girl that was pretty damn good. I was very impressed.
P.S…Glad my posts/comments weren’t deleted. I admit they were kinda harsh and I apologize for being a dick…but sometimes political correctness goes way too far. Also, I think Kanye West is a f*ggot even if he’s not gay. 😛 I just dislike the arrogant asshole. And question…does the fact this is my 3rd comment on a gay site make me queer? 😛 Kidding…..but some of the images on the right side of this page are kind of disturbing!
Peace out people!
