Kathy Griffin Sheds Light On Decision To Cut Ties With Fashion Police

“I’m not down on putting down photos of women. I’m 54, a feminist, and it’s not what I do. If you want me to make fun of Justin Bieber pissing in a bucket, fine… But I’m not gonna look at a picture of Lena Dunham and go, ‘She’s fat—good night, everybody!’”
Ok, well you just DID comment that she was fat in a comment saying you wouldn’t comment that she was fat.
Secondly, Kathy knew what that show was. Interesting that it’s only after she got horrible reviews and the ratings started tanking that she had this crisis of conscious.
Kathy is no saint, she’s gonna milk this sacrificial story for all it’s worth! It’s now material for her standup. She did it for the womyn! (so she says).
We see right through you, Kathy. After you basically needed to publish your resume in your first tweet about your departure, it’s pretty clear what your motive for going on show was. Just because you were taking Joan’s spot does not make you the boss of everyone and able to change the nature of the show.
Kathy has been a tireless advocate of the LGB community. I can certainly see why all of you are putting her down. It’s pretty much what happens to all of our supporters. Good job guys!
The purpose of fashion is to persuade women to buy a lot of expensive clothes that they don’t need by making them feel bad about their bodies. It serves no social benefit whatsoever.
Fashion Police rarely criticized people’s bodies. They criticized clothes, hairstyle, and makeup. When a heavy person like Precious was on, they went out of their way to praise her, although they might say something about a yoyo dieter.
@Merv: Why criticize other people’s clothes, hairstyle and makeup? Everyone should wear what they like and makes them feel good. It’s nobody else’s business.
“@Cam: You have no idea about the context of any of this do you? Are you even familiar with what the term “context” means? It appears that you do not.”

Fine “Jimmy”, you seem to think that we’re all missing something incredibly important here, myself most of all, so by all means, please elaborate. Because you know, if all you have is trying to insult me, then that would seem like you were just lying and pretending that something was missed.
@jwtraveler: When celebrities dress up, it’s not like you and me. They’re walking billboards for the clothing companies dressing them, and are most definitely trying to get commented on in the press.
@vonlmo: Lol… Hate laugh at that. But true that Joan dissolve into being something tasteless and bitter in her later yrs. And all in the name of being a comedian. Which she hid behind…
Griffin has repeatedly said that she is more prone tk make fun od someone’s behavior morr than anything else. Even when she makes fun of Kirsty Allie it’s mostly along the lines of how she took a bunch of money from Jenni Craig and then gained the weight back. I think she hoped to take the show in a different direction but realozed that she didn’t have the “license to kill” that Joan Rivers had. Also the other members of the show wwre never as quick witted as Rivers (who could be?). Speaking as a fan of hers, I think Kathy Griffin made the right decision. If she couldn’t force the show to be something more along the lines of her style of comedy then it would have quickly devolved into a bunch of mean girls rather than a couple mean girls and a comedian firing off barbs at kthers and then themselves. Joan would always bring it around to herself in her acts.
@Merv: Yes, you’re right. And clothing companies use these “walking billboards” to influence ordinary women to feel that they must buy their overpriced clothes to be attractive. As I said before, no social benefit.

I do not watch the show, respect Kathy’s choice, and wonder if she ever saw the show before agreeing to join the cast.
Putting people down is kind of their thing.
Desert Boy
Fashion Police died with Joan Rivers. Kathy Griffin gave it a good try but, it’s time to put the show to rest.
redcarpet30
Joan put people down all the time. I don’t get moral panic.
Unless she hears Julianna whateverface being a bitchy unfunny high school princess and was like “Ooops, my bad, this is terrible”.
SpunkyBunks

@redcarpet30:
Joan knew fashion, though, which was at least part of the point of “Fashion Police”.
Come on Kathy, you built your repertoire on putting others down, their bodies and all, women too. Don’t back down now.
And I say this as someone who enjoys your work.

In her later years,Joan Rivers devolved into a tasteless, abusive p.o.s. yenta. The show should have pulled the plug when the same was done to her.
Oli1023
I guess her point was that instead of really commenting on the clothes, it actually turned into comments on the bodies of the women in the clothes?

@Cam: You have no idea about the context of any of this do you? Are you even familiar with what the term “context” means? It appears that you do not.

Imperialist
No great loss, or a loss of any kind, getting rid of Kathy.
