Kathy Griffin broke some surprising news during her concert in Cincinnati on Friday — her late night talk show Kathy has been canceled by Bravo.
During her stand-up show, the comedian revealed that the show hasn’t been renewed by the cable network, reports website Cincinnati.com. According to the reviewer, “the crowd booed when they heard, but Griffin made light of it, predicting the demise of Bravo.”
The show, despite attracting some high-profile guests such as Jane Fonda, Josh Groban and Anderson Cooper, has struggled in the ratings and in February was moved out of its primetime slot at 10 p.m. on Thursdays to 11:30 p.m.
While there’s no official confirmation from Bravo just yet, it’s unlikely the always-unbridled comic would bite the hand of the network that has largely been responsible for her career resurgence. Griffin won two Emmys and loyal legions of fans for her previous Bravo series, Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D List.
Of course, we’re not shedding any tears for Kathy. Griffin will continue to be an advocate for the LGBT community. In May she will host the L.A. Gay& Lesbian Center’s benefit An Evening with Women. The cancellation is certain to provide more rich comedy fodder.

Having met Kathy and been to many over her shows, I can see why it was canceled. For some reason, it appears that she was trying way too hard. It just didn’t suit her. Stick to stand up shows and being a guest on other talk shows!

Sequel time!
Now she can upgrade her old show to, “My life on the “C” list”! Just think of all the things she can make that “C” stand for: Comedian, Classy, C@$^, she could really make a decent show out of each one every week!

Kathys show was funny & fresh unlike all those other HAG & FAG IDIOTS on the “reality”
shows on bravo. BOO!

I really like Kathy Griffin, but in smaller doses. She was way too manic on the show, and didn’t give anyone a chance to talk, other than herself. (which is pretty much what Ellen Degeneres does as well)
Icebloo
Don’t cry any tears for her. She’s a multi millionaire thanks to gay people buying tickets to her shows. She hasn’t EVER done a thing for us though.
ACTIONS speak louder than WORDS.
Kathy is all about her bank balance and public profile. She SAYS she cares about gays but she has never done ANYTHING for us. She is just another straight person CLAIMING to support us so we make them rich.

I’ve said so for years; a mercenary homophobe in gay friendly clothing. You don’t target a Clay Aiken building half your show on the phrase Clay Gaykin when the guy hadn’t even come out, then take your little posse to Vegas to stalk him on camera etc etc etc. And I never gave a rat’s ass about that guy until I saw her doing that and thought you phony bitch. First all your “ma gays” crap now this?
Kieran
She’s some “advocate” for “her gays”. Her idea of a great comeback line to a heckler is to tell him to “take that cock out of your mouth”?
jeff4justice
@Icebloo What does anyone in power do to “care” about the oppressed and poor. Despite ALL of the nonprofits, government so-called safety net programs, celebs with charities, and TV shows giving out money, why are there so many poor and oppressed people?
The bottom line is most people with power don’t do anything for “us.” They go to events to score easy PR and raise money for the 6-figure salary earning executive directors for organizations that primarily own serve a segment of LGBTs in large cities. That’s how Gay Inc. works.

Kathy Griffin had a late night talk show? Who knew?
TinoTurner
Ok so I’ve never been a fan, especially of fake reality shows. When I was with my ex, I surprised him with tickets one summer day. The ENTIRE show was her talking about all the reality shows she loves, most notably ALL the “Real Housewives” shows. She did not tell ONE story….one joke….one observation. The ENTIRE show was her listing off each and every one of the housewives and giving her opinion on them. I can not believe this person is famous, she is literally the opposite of funny and its actually quite disturbing how gay people blindly support certain people without any thought.

I can’t stand her, she’s not funny. If she hadn’t made a career out of sucking up to us she’d be a waitress someplace, probably a d-list diner.
Mofdgheb
A few of the Kathy episodes so far have been funny. The show is at its best when Kathy Griffin allows her guests to speak more freely, that is, without too much direction from the host.
Some of the guests have been such dullards, though. Larry King was soporific.
longpastdue
Ok I’m a fan simply because I find her funny but I can completely understand why others wouldn’t but damn, how can people get this angry about her very existence. I mean really guys, when it comes to LGBT she’s better than most and the good part is she doesn’t take any of it too seriously. If you don’t find her funny that’s cool but do you really have to get so upset about it. Watch out for your blood pressure people somebody’s going to have a stroke.
Jack E. Jett
It is weird to try and pinpoint when she stopped being fun. For me it might have been when she went overboard with the glam.
Ryanpdx25
That is a shame, the first season was tough to get through but I actually thought Griffin was getting the hang of it this second time around. Admittedly I’m less of a fan than I was during the Dlist, as well as her early specials. These days her material seems to be too bogged down with jokes that she has been recycling for years, or with her commentary on shows that I don’t watch. I really loved her episode on Same Name when she was more genuine and her stage persona was dialed back a lot. Considering that she is in her 50s and financially set, I wish she would take a breath and stop trying to be funny and just be funny.

Bravo has become so awful that I rarely watch it and thus didn’t even know Kathy Griffin had a talk show until a few days ago when I stumbled across some episodes posted on YouTube. If not for Top Chef I’d forget that Bravo existed. I wish I had known sooner, because the episodes I watched, eg Lily Tomlin’s appearance, were awesome fun.
Creamsicle
I like Griffin, but I have to agree with some of other fans here. She wasn’t being herself on the show, and while that was kind of the joke during the first season, it was a disadvantage in the second. She does actually seem to have a chemistry with most of her guests, which is awesome to see, but it felt like she was trying to ram the session into the usual setup for a talk show rather than doing what’s worked for her in the past and just focusing on stories.
As for the critics saying she’s not pro-gay enough, she has poundes pavement and canvassed for marriage equality far in advance of other celebrity endorsements. She has done numerous fund raisers for the LA LGBT teen center. She has donated her entire salary from a show in LA Trouble the Trevor Project, which actually saved my life back in 2007. I know the lady has a lot, but she’s also given plenty, so let’s lighten up. She’s a comic. She doesn’t claim to be the patron wait of all gays for all time.
