The county clerk from Kentucky has been on a religious rampage against same-sex couples trying to get married ever since the Supreme Court ruled in favor of marriage equality back in June. Over the past two months, she’s refused to marry dozens of LGBT couples, despite a federal judge telling her she must obey the constitution if she wants to keep her job.
Well, now it’s been revealed that Davis married a trans man and a pansexual woman months ago without even knowing it.

Camryn Colen and his wife Lexie were married by Davis back in February. According to Colen, Davis issued the marriage certificate without asking to see his birth certificate, which identifies him as a female.
“She saw just a straight couple in love, and she should see everybody like that,” he told the Courier-Journal. “She shouldn’t just see straight couples like that.”
This latest news comes just days after Davis filed an emergency request with the U.S. Supreme Court requesting a temporary stay on a lower court ruling ordering her to marry same-sex couples. In her request, Davis argued that signing her name on the marriage licenses of gay couples would “forever echo in her conscience.”
Davis has yet to issue a response to the news that an queer couple’s marriage certificate bears her signature. She must be busy “praying and fasting” over it.

I agree partially with what you’re saying, however…some clerks DO perform the actual wedding ceremonies (officiants).
Filing of the paperwork (Marriage “License”) is the beginning of the process.
It must be witnessed by usually 2 people and have some sort of officiant.
The final step in the process (before the couple is actually “married”) is that the paperwork must be filed by the County Clerk, who then issues the Marriage “Certificate”. The marriage is then official. So, technically she may (although I’m not sure if she performs ceremonies there) not be marrying people, she is certainly prohibiting the process.

@youarekiddingme: None of that matter, she is now in contempt of two courts, and the USA supreme court has refused her request for a stay, as of today 9/1/15 she should have begun to issue licenses, if she hasn’t or even if she has closed her office, she is in contempt of court, and all it will take to send her to jail is….. for one of the 4 couples that have filed suit against her,to call their state attorney lawyer, and he will contact the judge, the judge will then have no choice but to issue a warrant for her arrest.
Once in jail she will need to be replaced and I strongly doubt the next person will do the same, the judge would not be as kind a second time around.
