‘Kiss Me, Kill Me,’ a murder mystery film starring Willam Belli (‘Nip/Tuck’), has been green-lit for production after it reached its Kickstarter funding goal on Sunday. The film’s funding target was set at $100,000 and, with 29 hours left in the campaign, has raised nearly $117,000.

“We are both so thrilled and so grateful for the belief you have in our project – and we are so excited that we’ll now be able to make the film,” wrote director Casper Andreas (‘Going Down in LA-LA Land’) and his producing partner David Michael Barrett (‘Such Good People’) in an update on the funding page.

Willam, who has been helping to promote the film’s Kickstarter campaign, will be playing a “pivotal part of the plot,” according to Casper.

“The part [Willam’s] playing, of the character Jasmine, is a drag performer who is also a magician,” Casper revealed. “We can expect to definitely see some sassiness. The character is very bitchy, but he’s not cunty. It’s not like Willam. It’s definitely a character for him to play.”

Casper, who is also a big fan of RuPaul’s Drag Race, said Willam was his first choice for the role.

“I had met Willam a couple of years ago when I was out in LA for the theatrical opening of my last feature film, ‘Down in LA-LA Land,'” Casper shared. “When we were casting the film, we started thinking about who would be right for the different roles and he was number one on my list. I reached out through my friend Chad, who introduced us before, and he put me in touch with him. I sent him the script and he was interested. He was actually the first person we cast.

“I think people will be excited to see Willam in the film. He’s a great actor and he’s very serious about his acting. We cast him more for being an actor than for being a drag queen, because we could have put anyone in drag to make them a drag queen for a film. We really liked the idea of casting Willam because he was just perfect in every aspect for the role.”

Gale Harold, who played Brian in American version of ‘Queer as Folk,’ has also been cast for the film. “Gale is one of the leading roles,” Casper shared, “I can’t reveal exactly who’s playing what, but he plays a very successful reality TV producer who is used to getting everything he wants.”

Although Casper says filming hasn’t started yet, the feature film is scheduled for a 2015 premiere.
