A repulsive rape joke John McCain reportedly told back in 1986: “Did you hear the one about the woman who is attacked on the street by a gorilla, beaten senseless, raped repeatedly and left to die? When she finally regains consciousness and tries to speak, her doctor leans over to hear her sigh contently and to feebly ask, ‘Where is that marvelous ape?'” [Think Progress]

Actually, it’s pretty funny.

sick!
Meanwhile, 99% of lynchings were due to the “rape” of a white woman. Look it up… And, yes, lynchings still happen!
White males in America have issues.

I don’t get it. It’s not even funny. What’s the point?

Pity it was so long ago. He’d been married to creepy mccain for six years when this joke was hatched (let’s not forget that he dumped his first wife of 15 years after she was mangled in a car accident and no long looked model-esque). I’d think this joke suggests ol’ john is a bit of a misogynist, but then I don’t think he really likes ANYBODY.

I dont get it either! He reportedly said it? What does that mean? Id rather judge him on what i definitely know what he said. And what i have seen him actually say i havent liked.

AnOtherGreek, I picked up the racialist tone, too. The more I read it, the more it disturbs me. Scan here: http://www.crooksandliars.com/2008/07/15/did-you-hear-john-mccains-womanrapegorilla-joke/

I’m usually willing to forgive people for stupid or insensitive comments they make in polite company, if only because I’d hate to be held responsible for all of the stupid or insensitive comments I’ve made in private.
However, this is unacceptable, even for a misogynistic c-nt like McCain. And I’d say that in public.
