LA Gays’ Go-To Attorney Albert L. Gordon Dead at 94

albert-l-gordon

Albert L. Gordon, the straight attorney who fought legal battles on behalf of the gay community in Los Angeles, died last month, his family announced. He was 94. Gordon, whose two twin sons are gay, began a law career at age 47 and went on to fight well known cases in the 70s and 80s, including the release of 40 LGBT supporters arrested for staging a mock slave auction for charity (treated by police as a human trafficking event). An interesting turn for a man whose own son Harold says was homophobic, until he met some the gay friends of his other son, Gerald, who was the first to come out. [LAT]
