THE LADY DOTH PROTEST

Lady Gaga Can’t Be Bought By Republicans

In perhaps this week’s least-surprising news comes confirmation that Lady Gaga turned down a million bucks to perform a few songs at the Republican convention last summer. Well, actually the surprise here is that Republicans are fans of the provocative and tireless LGBT advocate.

Still, despite their earlier denials it seems that RNC planners did indeed reach out to the self-proclaimed Mother Monster to perform in Tampa last summer. The Washington Examiner obtained emails that reveal the American Action Group, a conservative organization offered Gaga a cool $1 million to perform at a tent near the convention.

For what it’s worth, RNC spokesman Sean Spicer states that AAN is unaffiliated with the Republican party, and denies any role in trying to hire Gaga.

The statement was released after the party received complaints from conservative groups and numerous donors, as well as criticism from radio host Rush Limbaugh over the effort to get Gaga to provide entertain during the convention.

The “Born This Way” singer is not the only equality-minded entertainer who refused to perform for the RNC. Dolly Parton and Pitbull also declined invitations.
