Lady Gaga Owes Everything to the Gays

gagaboston

Maybe you see Lady Gaga as the next coming of Madonna. Or maybe you think she’s an annoying stain on pop culture who needs to disappear. Either way, Lady Gaga sees you as the reason she has a career.

“The turning point for me was the gay community,” says Gaga. “I’ve got so many gay fans and they’re so loyal to me and they really lifted me up. They’ll always stand by me and I’ll always stand by them. It’s not an easy thing to create a fanbase. … Being invited to play [the San Francisco Pride rally], that was a real turning point for me as an artist.”

Gaga first came on our radar this time last year, when she closed Logo’s NewNowNext Awards with a get-the-F-out-of-your-seat performance of “Just Dance” — which, we know now, would take over the world’s clubs.
