I was 19 years old, and it just changed my perspective on everything, forever. It was an image that changed my life. I remember I took the vinyl record out of the casing and I put it on my vinyl player — which was on my stovetop in my kitchen, because I was living in this really tiny apartment and I had my turntable on my stove. ‘Watch That Man’ came on and, I mean, that was just the beginning of my artistic birth. I started to dress more expressively. I started to go to the library and look through more art books. I took an art history class. I was playing with a band… You meet or see a musician that has something that is of another planet, of another time, and it changes you forever. I believe everyone has that, don’t you? That one thing you saw as a kid that made you go, “Oh, okay. Now I know who I am…I feel like my whole career is a tribute to David Bowie.”

Bowie had that effect on people.

Bowie’s Glass Spider tour era.. or Laughing Gnome phase?

Let’s allow the young ones to talk about art, unimpeded. They’re seeing it from a different perspective, which can enhance. Lightnin’ Hopkins is a deep pool of trueness. I had to start somewhere. Bowie will be the future’s Lightnin’ Hopkins. I love how Bowie has the whole world talking about art. What a gift.
Spike
Given her performance at the Grammy’s, you would never have known it.
Masc Pride
She’s a Bowie fanatic. We get it. Enough already.
@Spike: It was painful to watch.
dbmcvey
@Spike: I thought her performance was fine, the problem was in the concept. Too many song clips, they would have been better off choosing fewer songs so that they could do them justice.
Hogwasher
@Spike:
There’s always a couple of Negative Nancies in the comment section.
Spike
@dbmcvey: Agreed, however in my opinion, she should have covered the iconic songs, rather then emulate his style and sound.
Spike
@Hogwasher: It’s called having an opinion . . . Daisy Douche!
Stached1
@Spike: Very true her ‘performance’ or tribute to David was embarrassing.
Pistolo
Just once I’d like to hear Lady Gaga speak as normal person, not someone trying to make some dramatic STATEMENT.
rickperryisgay
She still sucked at the grammys and did him no worthy tribute. Soooooooooooooo fucking bad. David does and did not approve
rickperryisgay
I thought she stole everything she knows from cher freddie mercury and bjork. Now bowie? Yeah. Not original and not worth watching. Go back to chatholic school you fucking jew
rickperryisgay
….. Where was Dance Magic Dance. ? She obviously has no idea whom Bowie is
Spike
@Pistolo: Just another pop-star narcissist that believes that her every thought, choice and bowel movement is significant and could save a life or change the direction of the entire human race. She really needs to take a lesson from Cher, be fabulous, be a diva, make music, be creative, just don’t take yourself and what you do so damn serious.

Spike, what you’re describing is rushing to the altar, as in, it’s better to be asked to come up. She’s at the age where taking out a solid block of time to think would serve her well. Transition, despite the tattoos keeping her in a box, is the next logical step. Thinking is always good. Going back to school may be a way to move forward. Credibility is earned.
