Earlier this morning we wrote about homophobia at University of Virginia’s football games. Here’s a somewhat related story from 365Gay:
Coach Phil Jackson said he deserved the reprimand he got from the NBA on Wednesday for making a sexual reference in a comment following the Los Angeles Lakers’ loss in San Antonio.
The Spurs made 13 three-pointers in their 107-92 victory on Tuesday night, and Jackson was asked if too much penetration was leading to open outside shooters.
“We call this a Brokeback Mountain game, because there’s so much penetration and kickouts,” Jackson said. “It was one of those games.”
…
[Said Jackson later] “In retrospect, it wasn’t really funny.”
No, it wasn’t, nor was it clever, witty or timely. It’s so unfunny, in fact, that we’re not even offended. Well, except by Jackson’s apparent idiocy.
For their part, the NBA made Jackson promise to watch his mouth. And, for the love of God, get some new material!
Ricky
Actually, it was witty, and quite funny. Get the dick out of your asses, and get over yourselves. He didn’t say he hated gay people, for christ’s sake.
James Boyd
It is actually a great comment. If you would have come up with it first, you would have been proud.

I’m not getting this. It’s innocuous, and even pretty clever. Sheesh we’ve become soooo over sensitive!!
John Santos
“Actually, it was witty, and quite funny.”
Ricky, it was a comment only a jock sniffing, anti-gay het would like. Leave Queerty, get out of your house and go out and actually play some ball, rather than living vicariously through people more talented and competent than yourself and then maybe a woman will actually want to fuck you, rather than just ridicule you. Shithead.
“It is actually a great comment.”
And it James Boyd had come up with that comment himself, he would need a lie down and a cold compress because the exertion needed to come with an original thought on his part, would have been so intense as to stun him and render him unconscious.

Whatever, I totally lol’d over it.
David Hauslaib, Queerty
I gotta say, I’m sort of okay with this one. It’s a line I would’ve used, and I don’t think it’s necessarily off limits for the straights.
But the gays and the NBA are always a touchy combination.
Dann Dempsey
um, that was totally funny.
