Marc Jacobs’ now-confirmed ex Lorenzo Martone is romancing former *Nsync-er Lance Bass, say the gossips. Now it’s just a matter of time before someone claims Lance came between them.
“A source close to the couple tells us Martone and Bass met shortly after Lorenzo started seeing Jacobs in 2008, but the two men’s relationship has only heated up in the weeks since Jacobs and Martone” split,” reports Gatecrasher. “Based on Martone’s tweet, he and Jacobs had already called it quits when they attended a June 3 AmFAR benefit together and held hands while watching Cyndi Lauper perform. The two men then headed to the AmFAR afterparty at The Park restaurant in Chelsea, where, interestingly, they hung out for a while with Bass and pop star Ricky Martin.”
And since then the pair have been skipping around New York taking their romance to the streets, but a “friend of Bass” says the relationship is doomed: Lance likes younger, prettier dudes.
Meanwhile, neither Lance nor Lorenzo have taken to Twitter to confirm or deny the story, so you know it’s true.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
WTF!
God forbid they dated people who are not Fabulis, or who are not, in their minds, A-type queens. Nice pairing: the plastic-surgery singing has-been and the Brazilian arriviste.
Bubba
Martone made such a big spectacle of himself with that whore Jacobs getting married. Such fools.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz…

These guys really have no genuine feeling for anybody, except the guys they see in the mirror.
kirk
It appears that if your name has been mentioned in the press, you have a good chance of boning Lance Bass.
Shade
My we’ve all taken our regular dose of bitter sense of superiority pills haven’t we?
andy
Shade, I am not superior. I totally admit to a rampant desire to DO Mr. Lorenzo Martone…I’m just afraid of how much he’d charge me for the pleasure.
kenny too
Brazilians are the new Cubans: hustle, hustle, hustle!
Clint
they’d make good looking babies.

@Richard: @<a href="#comment- I think the call it metrosexuality these days …whatever…Is this Bass man the only possible gay man that …ugh..just speechless ..is he the only A gay there is.
Vapid shit.
johnny
@kenny too:
I can agree about Cubans. Given what they’re trying to escape, it’s understandable.. But Brazil is way too big to generalize.
GEW
Lance came between them.
There, it’s been said.
Don’t quote me. hehehehe

“Lance likes younger, prettier dudes”
Really? Lance is lucky to get what he can get. Lorenzo may be older than Lance (by not much) but he certainly is much better looking than Lance whose face is so fake looking from plastic surgery and he is barely 30. At this rate Lance is on the path to be the new Jocelyn Wildenstein.
Cam
Lance better use 2 Condoms. This guy used to date Marc Jacobs.
D'oh, The Magnificent
I am just happy that we are at the point that we have enough out gay celebrities to discuss who is dating whom just like we once would dow with did Angelina Jolie break up Brad and Jen. Now, not on that level. Not yet. But nice.
Oscar
Can someone tell me what Bass did to his face? He looks different, and not in a good way! Any plastic surgeons in the house?
TonyD
Does Lance Bass have a job? Put his time to good use? I only see media releases of who this guy is porking, shirtless pics, or vacationing- Does he want to look like a joke after a sincere attempt of going to space? Did he just give up? That’s what he presents- I’ve read 3 websites either calling him a “Pop star has been, “professional gay,” and my favorite, “The guy that got Marc Jacob’s sloppy seconds.”
jj
does Lance Bass NEED a job? his boyband sold almost 60 million records worldwide, multiple worldwide arena tours, and insane about of merch (there was everything from lunchboxes to tshirts to dolls etc). I’m almost sure he’s probably just quietly living off royalties and interest and can for the rest of his life as long as he keeps it in check (his new Chelsea apt was reported as only 1.4M – nothing to balk at but nothing big either).
also, he’s young, was in the biggest boyband of the 90s, and is relatively not bad looking (sure he’s not an absolute stunner but not busted at all either). i like to see the total package YOU’RE working with!
ps – marc jacobs ex is gross and I’m sure he’s just trying to keep himself in the press so his new company doesnt sink now that MJ is not in the picture
TonyD
@jj: Sad to see your view of life is make a few million $s, look pretty, and stop trying at everything after that; some people prefer to exorcise our minds far beyond that. Peace!
jj
@TonyD: I’m sure he’s keeping himself plenty busy with various charities, project meetings, photoshoots, TV appearances, etc. Of course – he could “exercise his mind” by sitting in a cubicle, working on a computer for 10 hrs a day, and taking orders from someone else!
Kyle412
@jj:
Yes, Lance still needs to work. Most musical acts do not make much money off their CDs until after their 3rd album. Most of the money goes to the label on the first 3 recordings. I wasn’t a big N’Sync fan but I’m not sure they made more than 3 albums. As for merchandise, Lance wasn’t a solo act. The dollars were split 5 ways amongst J.C, Justin, Chris, Joey and Lance. Not to mention the label, managers, etc. Seeing that this all occurred by the time Lance was 25 I would argue that he is set for the rest of his life. That is easily going to be 50+ years more as long as he doesn’t die younger from botched plastic surgery.
jj
@Kyle412:
The reason many acts “don’t see any money until the 3rd album etc” is bc the label needs to recoup all marketing and promotion costs. However, NSYNC was a HUGE success from the first album – meaning they saw Also, they understood their worth – after the success of the first album (when they didnt see any money) they won a lawsuit against Lou Pearlman and signed with Jive. This was the height of their fame – guarenteeing them a rather large signing bonus.
1998 – Nsync album – 10x Platinum in the US
1998 – Home For Christmas album – 2x Platinum in US
2000 – No Strings Attached album – 11x Platinum in the US
2001 – Celebrity album – 5x Platinum in the US
Nsync Tour: $15M
No Strings Attached Tour: $72M
Pop Odyssey Tour: $90M
The Celebrity Tour: $33M
Total tours: $210M
>>The group licensed their likenesses on large number of merchandise, including board games, microphones, lip balm, marionettes, books, key chains, bedding, clothing, video games[24], and various other articles. The group also had a deal alongside McDonald’s, which included commercials featuring the group and Spears, along with a CD and a video that featured behind-the-scenes footage from the making of *NSYNC’s music video. The vocal group also had a deal with Chili’s Grill & Bar in which the members appeared in commercials for the restaurant, while Chili’s helped sponsor the group’s tour.<<
Like a said, I think buying your place of residence for 1.4M is gonna work out just fine. If you dont think so youre out of touch ….that and you spend too much money.
jj
Also, I should note that the label sees NO MONEY when it comes to tours or merch. After all the production costs are paid for, this $ goes to the artist and management only. And since they dropped their management earlier on, I bet they signed with new management for a very little percentage.
D'oh, The Magnificent
@jj: I think your math is pretty damn good there. He’s worth $22 mil.
For the record, anyone who is interested can find out what any celebrity is worth by googling the celebrity name with “net worth”
http://www.celebritynetworth.com/richest-celebrities/singers/lance-bass-net-worth/
Above is one site that I found on the subject. Justin Timberlake is worth 70 mil by the way.
D'oh, The Magnificent
@jj: Well, the label at one point did not see money related to the ancillaries that you mention. That has changed for some new artists.
jj
correct, 360 deals have changed that but Nysnc just missed the boat on those (as well as selling albums – nobody hits 11x platinum anymore)
dannyal
lol, i like how JJ’s opinions/explanation basically shut the other commenters up. They sound so straight-to-the-point and factual-based. I also like he doesn’t really respond to the negative, jealous sounding words that were said here.
By the way, personally, I think Lance looks better than ever. If he achieved that by plastic surgery, then kudos to him.
mk
@jj: You aren’t factoring in that Nsync were under contract to manager Lou Pearlman for some of that time and was sued by him. Pearlman recruited boys for his bands, trained them, found them songs to sing and signed them to contracts that gave him nearly all of the group’s earnings including merchandizing. He also expected at least one boy in each band to sexually service him reportedly, but that’s another story.
Nsync was the only one of Pearlman’s groups that eventually broke their contract with him to go on their own, but he succeeded in suing them for tens of millions of dollars for breach of contract. They put out the No Strings Attached album after leaving Pearlman, which was so uber successful in sales numbers because their fans organized a campaign to buy the CDs and then return them to the store over and over and over to support the group after their break with Lou.
SG
The average apartment in Manhattan costs $1 million. I would not read his buying one for $1.4 as an indication that he’s rolling in it.

@jj:
”

Also, I should note that the label sees NO MONEY when it comes to tours or merch.”
Unless the tour is sponsored, the label charges the groups for everything from food to gas to travel. If they get a sponsor that helps with a lot of costs, but if not, the label takes a chunk of the gross off the tour.
David in Houston
I still have no clue why anyone would be interested in dating Lance Bass. Lorenzo is VERY pretty to look at, but he slept with Marc Jacobs. Nuf said.
D'oh, The Magnificent
@SG: Most people can’t afford those prices, and so, yeah, if he can pay 1.4 mil without a job that’s impressive for most people. He’s, as I just linked you to, worth 22 mil.
What I don’t get- none of you naysayers are providing any links to anything. Yet you persist in claiming he doesn’t have any money.
D'oh, The Magnificent
@WalkderDC: Your comment is inaccurate.
johnny
Could we forget about the money please?
We’re losing sight of what’s important here: High-profile fashionista Mark Jacobs bought and paid for ungrateful Brazilian boytoy, Lorenzo Martone. Then Lorenzo ends up doing the least interesting member of boyband ‘N Synch, Lance Bass.
jj
@WalkderDC: are you thinking of tour support? that only happens for baby bands and is never sponsored
TonyD
Again, the convo comes down to money and being pretty- what about other skills, heart, and pursuits of passion? Is Lance a fame whore? Anyone willing to admit they are, here? I don’t have a desk job- I’m getting my PhD in Education reform, money is a secondary goal. My riches aren’t measured by my bank account and I pray I never turn out like that; superficial trash like that frustrates me and makes it easy to disregard them like tissue.
BabyILikeIt
Lance Crass is always in Miami, trying to pick up the hot guys by picking up tabs. And as long as he pays, he can have some cuties. After using him, they all laugh about him being the biggest dork who thinks he is some hot stuff. NOT!
tylertime
If the $22 million is accurate, which I don’t believe it is you have to remember the guy is 31 (and hasn’t had a music career since 2002). This is not enough money to never ever work again. Unless something terrible befalls him he easily has 50 years of life to live. The way he spends $ without bringing money in means the money is finite. Ever heard of MC Hammer? Toni Braxton? Michael Jackson? All had uber successful careers but had major financial woes.
I also agree with the above posting about the $1.4 million apartment in NYC. That isn’t much by NYC standards and doesn’t mean he has money.
D'oh, The Magnificent
@tylertime: 22 mil, at 3 percent interest per year in income based savings (not a huge bet), is 660,000.
Even assuming he has the worse tax accountant and lawyer on the planet, that’s going to give him 330,000 a year. His interest is more than most people can spend in a year. His buying a 1.4 mil place indicated he gets how much money he’s got.
By the way, who gives a fuck what you believe? Prove the numbers wrong or just stop trying to show how poor you are by pretending 22 mil isn’t a lot of money.
jj
@tylertime: yes, MC Hammer and Michael Jackson are perfect examples. as far as I know, LB doesnt seem to be the type that buys every elephant and ape he lays eyes on. thats the difference between spending your money wisely and not.
and also, I know trust fund babies who have a lot less than 22M in the bank and live very healthy lives off the interest.
mk
@D’oh, The Magnificent:
What I don’t get- none of you naysayers are providing any links to anything. Yet you persist in claiming he doesn’t have any money.
The only link provided has been to the net worth site that doesn’t have any special information, provides a dollar figure without any of the back up evidence, has some figures for some people that are highly dubious, and includes this website disclaimer that doesn’t build confidence:

I wasn’t claiming he has no money myself. I’m not going to put any stock in the $22 million figure and JJ was counting in some money Lance would not have made, but I’m sure Lance has some money. Nsync had some very profitable time after prying themselves loose from Pearlman and there weren’t any reports of money managers stealing the money. He appears to be living well and we’d see him scrabbling around to make some cash if he was hard up.
Will
@WTF!: lol why settle for less? ^^
Will
@Richard: funny seeing as i’m assuming you’ve never actually met anyone mentioned in this article, nor know anything about them outside of their portayel by the media.
Will
@Kyle412: i know right, the famous, rich and drooled over celebrity is certainly lucky to get what he can get..
Will
@SG: if i had bass’s reported 22m net worth, i wouldn’t spend any more than 2m on an apartment. That way you keep more money in your account to make money from. Buying a flashy apartment for the sakes of a flashy apartment, that you can’t afford, or at least would be smarter to not buy sounds like a much smarter option.
Will
@TonyD: you mean like self righteous “intellectuals”..? Being interested in money and good looks doesn’t make you trash. Simply because you find solace in learning does not mean that you are better than others. And considering a desire to be attractive is the most natural thing a human could do (seeing as it’s an innate desire in all animals), i especially wouldn’t consider that trash-worthy material. Money is the measure of success in our society, and progressing further than others of your species is also only natural and having money entails you to much more than not having money – the desire for money is a completely reasonable one. This doesn’t make you “Superficial Trash”.. this makes you average. And no matter what you say, i can guarantee you, you have the same desires as we do towards money and attractiveness. You’re just too self righteous to admit it.
