Every day, I hear some idiot calling me f** or threatening to kill me, and that’s what you have to live with when there’s still such a negative look at the LGBT community. It’s just sad what people are brainwashed into thinking. But definitely times are changing. … Look, Mississippi might be on the brink of legalizing gay marriage. I would never have thought in 2014 that would be the case.”
— Lance Bass, who’ll marry boyfriend Michael Turchin next month, discussing Kidnapped for Christ, the documentary he produced, in an interview with ABC News

in all honesty/fairness- every str8 celeb probably gets a death threat everyday
fredo777
@dhmonarch89: Probably not for being straight, though.
Ladbrook
If true, then it’s unfortunate. No matter how much equality we earn, there will always be a minority (small, but there nonetheless) that hates us. We saw it with women’s rights, African Americans, Jews, etc…
The insanity of some people will never go away. Usually it comes from folks in the “majority” who lack an education and struggle economically. They look for someone to blame: You took my job! It’s why we still have the KKK, Nazis, and Sean Hannity.

@Ladbrook: Beautifully and simply stated. I couldn’t have said it better. Here in Los Angeles I hear this kind of nonsense daily, mostly targeted at the large Latino population. Understanding the ignorance of the bigots and hearing it so often about so many marginalized groups does nothing to keep me from being disgusted.
Those of us who think otherwise must strive on a daily basis to spread love, compassion and understanding. I’m convinced we’re winning the battle.

Lance probably gets death threats from other gay men.

@Ladbrook: I like the cut of your jib.

Well, the music he made with N Sync was awful. It’s like aural torture.
Ladbrook
thanks guys… sometimes even we idiots get something right. đ

@jason smeds: “Well, the music he made with N Sync was awful. Itâs like aural torture.”
You’re doing it wrong.
I'm Black, and HIV-Positive.
He shouldn’t be flaunting his impending marriage on all of us gay men either though.
@Silas Wegg: My point exactly.
@Ladbrook: You’re letting the women win with comments like that. Honestly, some movements should be set backwards… Just sayin’.
Trippy
@Iâm Black, and HIV-Positive.: Not exactly sure what you mean by all of that, but no one deserves death threats, cat calls, or racial slurs tossed at them by ignorant haters and bigots. Not even Lance Bass.
Saint Law
@Iâm Black, and HIV-Positive.: Somebody would be doing the internet a favor if they broke your stubby little fingers.

While I’m inclined to agree wholeheartedly with Ladbrook’s eloquent comment, I’m slightly taken aback by Lance Bass’s stated experience. It’s sad, but I guess the death threats come with the territory of modern celebrity (especially if you’re gay and out and proud), but, really…? He gets the F-bomb lobbed at him “every day”?? Who is Lance hanging around with that he’s being disrespected on such a regular basis?
Oh, and: @Iâm Black, and HIV-Positive.: “You’re letting the women win with comments like that.”
Are you being facetious, Black, and HIV-Positive? If not, would you like to explain that remark?
TomMc
@Iâm Black, and HIV-Positive.: It’d be kinda cool if you could see how stuff like that Ferguson ‘verdict’ might connect to your comments.
That is, lotsa folks are disenfranchised. It sucks – in the bad sense of that phrase – when other outsiders choose to alienate each other during times like these.
Please consider being more kind to women? After all, one of them gave birth to you.
(I hope that that didn’t offend.)

Never give up, Lance… NEVER!!! Best wishes in your life. Pastor George M Melby.

To Lance Bass: Ignore these idiots ans psychos. They’re not worth your time. They’re jealous of your money and success. It happens to all of us at one time or other. Peoples jealousy stems from envy of others successes in life, be it money, quality relationships or fame.

Every time I look at Lance Bass [most recently on Vanderpump something or other] I am reminded of the line in “The Color Purple”….by Shug Avery to Mz Celie………damn you sho iz ugly!!!!!
boring
Motherfucker, people aren’t calling you the F-Word and throwing death threats at you because you’re gay. They’re calling you the F-Word and throwing death threats at you because you were in ‘N SYNC.
And quite frankly, I can’t blame ’em.
