“I hate to get into this publicly, but Michael stole a lot of stuff. He stole a lot of songs. [Donna Summer’s] ‘State of Independence’ and ‘Billie Jean.’ The notes don’t lie, man. He was as Machiavellian as they come.
Greedy, man. Greedy. ‘Don’t Stop ’Til You Get Enough’ — Greg Phillinganes wrote the c section. Michael should’ve given him 10 percent of the song. Wouldn’t do it.”— Just one drop of tea spilled by Quincy Jones in an interview with Vulture that covers his true feelings on the Beatles, why Jimi Hendrix never played with Herbie Hancock, and who was responsible for the death of JFK.

Not even close to the worst things he did.

State of Independence is a masterpiece. *Adult* MJ with his underpowered feeble mannered voice and horrible increasing ovdereliabce on vocal ticks was overrated trash..except for. Billie Jean —which remains in my all time top ten— due almost entirely to his producers.

I never have met a rich person who was not a selfish, cutthroat bully.
It seems that it goes with the territory of being an economic success

Queerty, how did you miss the most interesting gay/bi content in that Quincy Jones interview?
He said that Richard Pryor, Marvin Gaye, and James Baldwin had had sex with Marlon Brando.
Maybe not the cha-cha.
[Marlon] Brando used to go cha-cha dancing with us. He could dance his ass off. He was the most charming motherf*cker you ever met. He’d f*ck anything. Anything! He’d f*ck a mailbox. James Baldwin. Richard Pryor. Marvin Gaye.
He slept with them? How do you know that?
[Frowns.] Come on, man. He did not give a f*ck!
Then, Richard Pryor’s widow came forward to say that yes, Pryor and Brando had smashed, and that Richard Pryor was out as bisexual to close friends. If you listen to some of his old routines, he talks about having sex with men, though that got buried.

I liked the tidbit about Cyndi Lauper being the most difficult person at the We Are The World recording.
Bob LaBlah
Jackson also paid Brando ONE MILLION dollars just to sit in the audience during his concert. Michael Jackson wanted to be white and for the most part avoided black entertainers unless of course it was publicity time or rumors being circulating how absent he was at black events. That (Jackson) was one sick ass little boy who at a very young age got used to people kissing his rear end because of what they thought he was (a god, more or less in his mind) but deep down he had to know that they day he could no longer produce gold mines it was all over. And in the end, thats just what happened.

@Brian Having worked once with Cyndi Lauper I can confirm she’s a f*cking pain in the ass.

That’s a separate article on Queerty. This one is about Michael Jackson.
bi_guy_09
Thank you! The #BiErasure is sorta appalling
Brian
Dean, STFU. You don’t get to dictate what people talk about in the comments.
And this article is about the Quincy Jones interview, so your scolding doesn’t even make logical sense.
Brody
A child molester was also a thief?
My God, this IS news.
Be sure to alert us if you find a parking ticket in his past, too.
DCguy
SO since Quincy was Michael’s producer, and knew about all of this, and said nothing, that would make him an accessory wouldn’t it?
Bob LaBlah
No, it would make him a smart man to have shut up about it. Quincy had the good sense to shut up, make millions of dollars off of him before the inevitable (Jackson being exposed for what he was) happened.
DCguy
Not really because he just admitted it, the lawsuit could still happen.
Notright
Pure nonsense. Artists copy each other all the time…
DCguy
And get sued for it all the time.
Kieran
Quincy just made a steaming, stinky load in his Depends.
dean089
Sorry, I’m not hearing much similarity between the two songs.
alphacentauri
This is not some secret, Michael Jackson stole/copied a lot of songs and music from other people including Donna Summer and Diana Ross.
But totally ignore the fact he’s a sexual predator/hebephile/pedo Quincy.
