The body of a young lesbian — a recent high school graduate who disappeared just before Christmas — has been found.
Motshidisi Pascalina – who is thought to have been between the ages of 18 and 20 – was discovered in a field close to her home in South Africa’s Gauteng province.
She was last seen December 16th.
Authorities believe she was raped before her killers subjected her to torture and mutilation.
“Her body was burnt,” Cedric Davids, a member of the Young Communists’ League, told eNCA news. “Her eyes were taken out, and her private parts were mutilated.”
“Most of her body had sustained burn injuries. Her parents identified her by her tattoo on her leg — it was the only thing visible.”
Four men have been arrested in connection with the crime.
Investigators theorize that Pascalina had been subject to “corrective rape,” in which men try to “cure” lesbianism by raping them.
