Confessions of a Gambler, based on the book from South African writer Rayda Jacobs (who stars), tells the story of a devout Muslim woman who becomes a gambling addict after a seemingly innocent casino visit with some girlfriends. That’s not even the worst of it: She soon learns her son is gay, and stricken with AIDS. When he dies, you can imagine things only get worse. I’m sure this one went over just swimmingly when it was screened in Dubai.
