Media Matters has charged several papers with watering down Sarah Palin’s sketchy record on gay rights. Nice things have said about Palin’s allowing the state to extend employment benefits to same-sex partners of state employees, but she originally vetoed the bill in December 2006. In fact, she was angry that the court forced her to enforce their ruling. “I disagree with the recent court decision, because I feel as though Alaskans spoke on this issue with its overwhelming support for a Constitutional Amendment in 1998 which defined marriage as between a man and woman. But the Supreme Court has spoken and the state will abide.” Palin remains a big fan of the 1998 anti-gay amendment and no friend to the LGBT Community.

At least she was cordial enough to enforce the law… what a joke she is.

“I feel as though Alaskans spoke on this issue”
When will people learn that rednecks deciding human rights issues is a bad thing.

All homophobes have a deep, dark gay secret that they are hiding: that would be the future First Husband who knows he can get some gay action rather than wakeup to a pitbull with bad breath and smeared lipstick! Watch the Palin family values unravel before our eyes (It’s popcorn fare)

Palin is a bigoted sow who’s nearly as bright as Dan Quayle, another sterling example of Republican wisdom. Palin’s fear of the press is reminiscent of Quayle’s, the master of misstatement who famously said “What a terrible thing to have lost one’s mind. Or not to have a mind at all. How true that is.” Palin and Quayle are both drooling bigots and typical of Republican politicians.
But so are the Democrats. They oppose same sex marriage too, they passed DOMA and DADT by huge majorities and refuse to repeal them, and they gutted ENDA and ditched the hate crimes bill. The DNC is a vipers next of homophobic sows like Leah Daughtry. With that record it’s not hardly surprising that Obama absolutely refuses to even mention us in his platform.
Some people, those without a partisan bias (and those who have no prospects of getting a job with the next administration) are angry about not having any real choice in this election. That’s because they mistakenly subscribe to the illusion that their vote counts as much as the vote of a billionaire. That’s just not true. Both of the majority parties are run by and for the rich and the only difference is that the Republicans don’t bother to lie about it. The Democrats do bother to lie, and for some, that’s enough to them send them gibbering off to vote for Obama and Biden.
For the rest of us our best bet is to help tear down both parties of the rich by voting for the union led and financed US Labor Party (if it makes it past the Democrat’s (sic) roadblocks). If not vote for socialist or communist candidates as a protest or join the scores of millions who sit it out because they’re smart enough to refuse to vote for the lesser bigot, the lesser warmonger or the lesser evil.
And of course, even if you’re smart enough to reject McCain and Obama, make it a point to vote against all the anti-GLBT referenda and initiatives.

Sarah Palin is disgusting. Her church supports the repugnant practice of convincing gay people that through prayer, shame, self-hatred and plenty of self-loathing, they can alter their sexual orientation. That stuff is extremely dangerous and unfair.
She’s homophobic Republican scum. A classy dress sense doesn’t change that.

Sarah Palin=St.John’s Wart.

It’s more revealing which book this sunt wanted BANNED when she was on the City Council..it’s a gay children’s book.
The way to know a candidate BEST, is look at what they did EARLY, before anyone was LOOKING.

Palin’s views on gay rights are far out of touch with majority of Americans because she even goes so far to oppose domestic partner benefits; whereas, even where the majority of Americans who oppose gay marriage, they nonetheless support equality of benefits.
Who are these dunderheads who selected Palin and how in the hell can any clear thinking gay or lesbian person support them?

Sadly, Perdue is correct; however, I think his advice stinks. In this election, I will pick the lesser of two evils {our future supreme court is at stake here!}. I do hope that his election will move the discourse towards the left so that future democratic nominee hopefuls don’t need to keep us locked up in the closet.
Bill Perdue
andy says “our future supreme court is at stake here” That’s not a valid argument one way or the other. The only time the courts, legislators or the White House pay attention to our agenda is when we (politically speaking of course) shove it in their faces and start pushing.
In point of fact the majority of the federal Supremes who struck down sodomy laws were appointed by Republicans, as were the majorities of the Massachusetts and California Supremes who voted for our right to be married.
As for the ‘discourse’ moving to ‘the left’ that’s a fantasy. Obama plans on continuing the war and escalating it. Wars always move society to the right. At the same time wars create the basis for the left to grow because it creates a generalized radicalization, just as the looming economic crisis does. Obama himself is moving to the right at a very fast clip.
The way to move things left for the GLBT movement, the courts and society in general is to organize massive, militant movements independent of the Democrats. They are a right wing party masquerading as a centrist party and cannot be reformed.
Andy is right about one thing though, the Democratic (sic) party is a political closet, and it’s the last closet we have to break out of. As soo as we do we’ll begin to make genuine progress.

AN AFP EXCLUSIVE
IF YOU STILL DOUBT that the big media is determined to keep under wraps the organized crime origins of the $200 million fortune of John McCain and his wife Cindy, take note of how the prestigious Washington Post touched on the issue in its July 22 edition. Rather, instead, note how the Post covered up the matter…

So in the Republicans with their VP, we have an anti-gay bigot who voted against DP benefits and expresses anti-gay animus.
Unfortunately, in the Democrats with Biden, we have an anti-gay bigot who voted for the anti-gay military policy and who lobbied for, helped write, and voted for the anti-gay Defense of Marriage Act.
I wish there’d be as much time spent on exposing the homophobic bigot running under the Democrat ticket as there was unveiling the well-duh proposition that the GOPer is “less than friendly” on gay rights.

I think the biggest problem we have right now is the social issues that are playing a major role in this election. We really do have some very serious issues right now that we as a country has to face. I want my rights to marry, but I can not agree with universal health care, social security, or the economics that the democrats believe in. How on earth are you going to cut 95% of the populations taxes, give everyone health care, and fix the economy? With the democrats in office I won’t have to worry about getting married, because I won’t be able to afford to have a wedding. What we need is the gay and lesbian community to be more independent. I do not want to be defined as a Democrat just because of my sexual orientation. It was the same with racial issue in the 60’s, and now look at the republican party.
