He mentioned a recent TikTok video that had encouraged viewers to be delusional. He said he was initially thrown by the idea, until he looked back at his own career.

‘That didn’t make sense to me,” he said. “And then I thought about it and I wouldn’t be where I am right now in my life and career if I weren’t delusional.

“Believing that I could drop out of school and become an international success within a year, it’s delusional. Believing that I could come out of the closet in the height of my career…to think that I could do that would be delusional,” he continued.

“To think that I could make a song about a man lusting after another man in a world where…it’s still legal in many places to be prosecuted and actually be killed for being who you are, for being gay, it’s delusional to think that that song could be the number one song in the world.”

He finished by saying, “It’s OK to be delusional when you’re chasing your dreams. When you have a vision in mind, you can be delusional.”

This is the TikTok video that Lil Nas X was talking about.

Lil Nas X has proved a huge inspiration to many since he found worldwide fame with the global smash, ‘Old Town Road’, in 2019. He came out as gay while it was at the top of the Billboard Hot 100.

He followed it up with two more number one smashes, ‘Montero (Call Me By Your Name)’ and ‘Industry baby’ in 2021, along with his debut album, also titled Montero.

After a three-month break from social media, he’s recently started posting again, teasing fans with snippets of new music.
