Comedy icon Lily Tomlin made it legal with her frequent collaborator and romantic partner of 42 years, writer Jane Wagner, when the two women married on New Yearâs Eve.
Word about the happy occasion came via entertainment columnist Liz Smith, who noted:
And my longtime friends, Lily Tomlin and her love, the writer Jane Wagner, got married on the eve of 2014. ⌠My wish is that their happiness will be as great as their combined talents.â
So do we! Last August Tomlin discussed the Supreme Court ruling on DOMA and Prop. 8 with E!âs Marc Malkin, saying that she and Wagner never thought theyâd live to see marriage equality and they were considering tying the knot. Tomlin said that if it happened, it wouldnât be a traditional ceremony.
âNo rings, no bridal dresses,â she said. âMaybe weâll be dressed like chickens.â
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
This is one wedding album weâre eager to see.

She’s the cow hat berated us for wanting marriage rights, since she didn’t need them.

EVERYONE needs time to adjust to coming out. These two ladies have decided that this time is right for them. I do not understand why ppl in the “gay” life depend on the outing of others to further their case/cause. One must be comfortable with their decisions. Life is more sweet when you let others make their OWN decisions and not expect them to live by YOUR agenda. All I can say is, THANKS to you both for all the entertainment and laughs you have shared with us and may you be happy! You~GO~ladies! Colby…

I’d dress like a chicken [or hawk] just to dance at the wedding! Love U both! B-)
Fitz
@Colby: Can you read? I wasn’t talking about her pathetic coming out process. I was talking about her imperial & dismissive attitude about gay marriage.
Colby
@Fitz,… My entry did NOT target you specifically. But, since you took matters into your own hands, maybe you feel guilty. Can YOU read? My text was for every person who >hates!< others for not coming to terms in the fashion most disentangled from their own views. I'm not a troll to feed on your anger. Don't take things personally and be a baby about others views. Please. Make life worth it. Not by attacking anothers point of reasoning. B-)
Colby
PS: @Frtz,…Yes, I can read. Can you write? your sentence makes no sense. “She’s the cow hat”?
Fitz
@Colby: Yea, I had a typo. At least I can stay on topic. Where was there any injection of anger about her coming out process? Your a nut. Don’t respond, I won’t read it.
Colby
“You’re” not your…??? s-a-d… đ

Congratulations to Lily and Jane.

Yeah, I said I didn’t like to give head at one early point in my life, but just like Lily, I came around to another way of thinking. Why does every comment a public person makes have to be set in stone forever and then later become fodder for every person who wants a reason to PMS about it. Show me one person who said they’d never do something and then went ahead and did it; like everyone. I also said I’d never get married because it’s for the weak and unattractive, but here I am, married. Congrats to Lily, who’s never really been that far in the closet (I knew she was gay back in the eighties) and has been cracking me up since the early seventies; you go girl!
