Tony Award-winning entertainer Billy Porter will host this year’s gala, during which five college-bound high school seniors from the New York Tri-state area will be granted $5,000 scholarships for their demonstrated outstanding leadership. The organization provides youth with opportunities to interact with adults who understand the realities of living openly as a member of the LGBTQ community. The organization was founded by designer Leo Preziosi after he read an article about two students who committed suicide due to hostile school environments. Live Out Loud has brought over 500 LGBTQ role models to area high schools and universities to help cultivate a new generation of queer professionals.
Ariel Foxman, Terrence McNally, Jaclyn Scotto Edge and William Eichert will be among the honorees at Live Out Loud‘s 13th Annual Young Trailblazers Gala on Monday night. The event which celebrates the continuing revolutionary role of LGBT leaders in business, arts, politics, religion and culture will honor InStyle editor Foxman with the Founder’s award. Tony Award-winning playwright McNally, whose works include The Ritz and Love! Valour! Compassion!, will receive the much-deserved Legend award. His latest play, Mothers and Sons, is currently running at the Golden Theatre on Broadway. This year Live Out Loud will present Jaclyn Scotto Edge and William Eichert with the First Annual Educator of the Year award.
