LIZA WITH A Z

Liza Minnelli Returns To Small Screen In New Season Of “Smash”

It’s Liza with a “Z” not Lisa with an “S” ’cause Lisa with an “S” ain’t guest starring on Smash: Yup, that legendary lady of stage, screen and song Liza Minnelli will high-kick her way onto the NBC show next spring.

Minnelli will appear as herself and sing an original song with series star Christian Borle that was written by the show’s songwriting duo, Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman.

Minnelli, who is also expected to appear in the new Netflix-produced season of Arrested Development, joins other notable Smash guest stars for the show’s next season, including Jennifer Hudson, Jesse L. Martin and Sean Hayes.

“Liza Minnelli is the essence of a multi-talented, singular show business sensation, particularly for her extraordinary contributions to Broadway,” said NBC Entertainment CEO Robert Greenblatt. “What could be more fitting than to have her legendary talent on a show that celebrates a world Liza has dazzled for decades?”

To answer your obvious question: Yes, Greenblatt is one of us.

Smash returns to NBC on February 5.
