Nick Robinson, who played Simon in the feature film, will executive-produce and narrate the show. Ugly Betty alum Ana Ortiz will costar as Victor’s mother.
“Love, Simon is a powerful story embraced by critics and audiences alike for its universal messages of authenticity, love, and acceptance,” Disney+ SVP Agnes Chu said in a statement. “We are honored to partner with the talented team at 20th Century Fox Television to bring this new chapter of a beloved story to Disney+, continuing the personal and uplifting narrative that captivated fans of the original film.”

Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, who adapted the Becky Albertalli book Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda for the 2018 film, will be the showrunners of the TV show. “We could not be more excited to be making Love, Simon for Disney+,” they said. “Writing Love, Simon was one of the most profound and enjoyable experiences of our careers to date and we are beyond thrilled that we get to revisit this world and tell the story of Victor, a brand-new Creekwood student, and his family and friends.”

Was it really a good idea to Make a sequel to a boring useless movie which only interest was the cute Nick Robinson, now replace by an average actor?
GalaxyMan
Say what you want about the movie, but it inspired many people and having a mainstream movie with a gay teen lead was a big deal. So “useless”? Who are you trying to fool?

It was the first movie of a big studio to have a gay teen protagonist. The movie has good reviews and didn’t tank on the box office, that would be good enough to be happy but someone always needs to be pissed.
Saying that i hope that like in the movie some of the roles are played by openly gay actors given that it seems in Greg Berlanti’s production the main character must be played by a straight actor everytime
Gay Veteran
I watch ‘Love, Simon’ a ridiculous amount of times I can’t wait for the tv series. I’ll be subscribing to Disney+ just for this series.

I can’t wait to watch this series. And an additional perk: The heads of everyone associated with Focus On The Family and other anti-lgbtq organizations will just explode in anger, worried that seeing gay characters on t.v. will make their children gay. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA Hey wives of Focus on the Family members; don’t worry about your kids. Worry about your closeted husbands.
missuniverse
I would watch it if it was on regular Disney..i would NOT pay money to subscribe to Disney + just to see this show. Because it is on subscription TV, few gays and others will not see it.

Let me guess, Disney will turn the series into a bunch of hetero drama and the main character will agonize over their sexuality, never completely come out and will just be a stylish friend for the hetero kids to bring their relationship drama to for advice.
Thad
There are hetero characters in the Simonverse. The cool thing is that there’s a minimum of homophobia.
I just finished Becky Albertalli’s “The Upside of Unrequited.” Simon makes only a cameo appearance; the story centers on Abby’s cousin Molly in Maryland. But Molly has two moms and a lesbian twin sister. And the characters are appealing no matter their orientation.

I would hope they don’t do with this series what American producers did with “Queer as Folk” — overdo it to the point of boredom. The British version was just right — that is, 8 episodes with a satisfactory ending. When Americans got hold of it, they dragged it out for five seasons and 83 episodes. Talk about “jumping the shark”! The series became tiresome after the first season.
