Since the Magic Mike musical is becoming a reality, the franchise is not playing around when it comes to talent with the high hopes of creating a stripper musical as successful as the film.
Magic Mike, The Musical is being produced by Steven Soderbergh, Channing Tatum (pictured above left with Alex Pettyfer), Reid Carolin, Gregory Jacobs, and Nick Wechsler. The men are fast tracking the project to the stage while also prepping start on the film sequel.
Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey have been selected to write the songs, and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa to write the book, according to Deadline.
Kitt and Yorkey are the creators of the Tony- and Pulitzer-winning Next To Normal, and the upcoming If/Then, starring Idina Menzel. Aguirre-Sacasa recently co-wrote the book for Spider Man: Turn Off The Dark and helped turn things around when there was nothing but bad news on that musical and performers were “dropping like flies from the complicated rigging,” as Deadline puts it.
Now if only more new on the proposed Mean Girls musical would speed up things, we’ll have the ultimate theater pair to add to our bucket list.

Sounds awesome!…The trolls forget Broadway always had a lot of titillation in it’s productions…
