If half of gay people want to live near other gay people, but outside the city, and also have the same amount of straight friends as they do gay, how long can gay cable channel Logo survive? Or can it? [Gawker]

The reason LOGO will fold is because LOGO sucks.

They are too horney to understand who their audience is. They assume that 20 somethings are watching LOGO. Everyone knows that anyone in their 20’s could give a shit less about gay TV. They are out being gay. The older members of the GLBTQ community are the ones that watch TV and they could give a shit less about the cheap ass music videos they play. They started out as the Priscilla Queen of the Desert network. Then they added Queer As Folk. Where are all the celbrities they promised? LOGO programs suck. It doesn’t matter where you live.

LOGO isn’t scheduling programs or developing their own series well enough to keep and audience.
I wanted it to succeed, but it is disappointing.

The worst part about LOGO is they really messed up any future for gay networks. They had the money and the influence and they blew it. They blew it for all of us. We asked for so little and they gave us far less. Perhaps if they spent a bit more on production and less on promotion they would be able to charge more than 100 bucks a minute for advertising.

i dont get logo, and the original programming that i have seen at friends places (noah’s ark and rick and steve) wasnt that great, but its still good that the channel exists when 98% of television is still straight (yes, i know there’s a lot of exceptions, but theyre still the exceptions).

for example, i saw the documentary “small town gay bar” on there, and i imagine seeing something like that could be really significant for a lot of people who might otherwise feel really isolated with their sexuality. its also not any worse than most of the other crap on tv.

I dread reality programming, and spend most of my television surfing on channels that exclusively fund scripted programming (namely TNT, TBS, and USA). Which is mostly why I find Logo frustrating; while I enjoy Sordid Lives, Exes and Oh’s, and some of the movies and shorts they feature, the never ending dross of poorly put together documentaries gets grating. Which is actually my biggest beef with the Sundance channel, which also features lots of documentary style shows that have exceptionally little to say on their subjects.

Logo is nothing more than crass corporate niche marketing; thanks Viacom.

Logo has made little effort to have a schedule, except for the very few new programs they have offered, such as Sordid Lives or Noah’s Ark on at Wednesdays at 10. First off, Logo morons programming new shows at the same time at Project Runway???

Where are the gay talk shows? A nightly gay news show or “Gay morning America.”

Logo’s programming is more like MTV…trying to capture channel surfers.

Putting aside Logo. The survey results are interesting. Does this mean the ghetto is over, and now there will be gay small towns? Actually, there already are – they are just flying under the radar. Case in point: Ocean Grove, NJ

Yikes to Logo tv. the programs lack any of that special creativity that most gay people have. it is corporate tv. sad it sucks. sad it shows the same shit over and over and over and over and over. logo is the terry schiavo of homosexual television.

Not too long ago if you said there was a gay-restaurant in the neighborhood you’d frequent it and give it business just because it’s gay but we don’t do that anymore…you have to actually be a good restaurant for us to keep coming. I watched LOGO for nearly a year and frankly hated Gay Sketch Show, Bad Girls, and enough with that Tranny show. Their programming is just not appealing to me and I’m not that discriminating, frankly.

wow, i guess the stereotype about how gays love to bitch and complain about everything and think they know better than everyone else is true…well, at least to those who post comments on blogs.
