Exciting news from Hollywood: Marvel Studios has put out a casting call for a transgender actor to play an undisclosed superhero role.
News of the casting call drew immediate attention from several high-profile transgender stars. Angelica Ross has expressed her repeated wishes to appear in an MCU movie. Sunday, Ross tweeted, “Ummmm Marvel? They keep asking if I’m joining the family. You want to tell ‘em?”

Details on the role itself remain mum, although reports refer to the character as “Jessica,” and a woman in her 20s or 30s. Noted site Geeks Worldwide issued official speculation that the casting call was for the role of Sera, a warrior sorceress from Thor comics.

That would seem to align with the current MCU slate, which includes Thor: Love and Thunder, a fourth installment in the Thor franchise. Marvel already reported that the character Valkyrie (played by Tessa Thompson) would have a prominent role in the film as the first officially LGBTQ Marvel hero. The last time audiences saw Valkyrie, Thor made her King of Asgard.
Perhaps Sera will be her queen?
Thor: Love and Thunder will hit movie screens in 2021, and feature Oscar-winner Natalie Portman taking on the role of a female Thor.

Umm, they were casting a gay actor for a gay role for the eternals but they announced the cast and hey, no gay actor and no gay character, at least till now

It would be interesting if they cast a transgender actor to play a NON-transgender character. To me, that should be the goal or, rather, that one need not be trans to play trans and one need not be cis to play cis.
Tangentially related: “Another Life” on Netflix features a trans character. It’s obvious that she’s an MTF but it’s never discussed, by which I mean that she’s not treated as “trans” but instead as “Zayn” (name of character). It’s a win in my book when her being trans isn’t the focus. The more important aspect is that she’s a medical officer. She has a role as a medical officer not as a trans medical officer. Quote from an article: “…unlike many of Zayn’s peers, the doctor’s story on Another Life is not defined by coming out or even the character’s gender. This is truly a progressive vision of the future, where the medical officer can live truthfully and honestly and get to be a fully realized character with an area of expertise (and also some romance!).”

Angelica Ross is to old sadly. She is pretty but they said 20 to 30. Born like 1980 I believe. They should just get one of RuPaul’s younger drag race stars. I love how over the top alot of the drag stars are ? I’m happy with either a trans person or a drag queen getting the spot light!
