The sequel to 2018’s Black Panther, Ryan Coogler’s Wakanda Forever will reportedly reckon with the loss of its king T’Challa—and, by extension, Chadwick Boseman.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
In the wake of the Black Panther’s passing, the leaders of the technologically advanced African kingdom must fight to protect their home from invading forces. Among such threats is Namor, the leader of an undersea civilization known as Tamoclan, fighting to save his people.

In the comics, Namor hails from the fabled Atlantis, but the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) has updated the character for Wakanda Forever, drawing from Mesoamerican history and culture. Naturally, there are racist “fans” attempting to disguise their hatred under the name of being “Marvel Comics purists,” but they’re swiftly being drowned out by excitement—and a hefty amount of lust—for this new take on Namor.
If there’s one thing we’re glad Marvel kept from the comics, it’s Namor’s penchant for skimpy green swimwear. The superhero, famously, wears nothing more than a tiny emerald speedo, so we’re thrilled to see only a minor variation on that look in Wakanda Forever, dressing Huerta’s Namor in some revealing booty shorts. The internet’s happy, too:

I’m sorry if this is the villain, I am on his side. I do not care, they cannot keep making beefcake villains and expect me to stay moral. https://t.co/Rowtv9dCds

While the MCU brings Huerta to a new level of international attention, the actor’s no stranger to the screen. Over the past 15 years, he’s popped up in a number of notable film and television projects, from Narcos: Mexico to The Forever Purge to James Bond film Spectre to the excellent but under-seen horror Tigers Are Not Afraid. Let’s just hope he’s ready for all the new thirst follows…

We’ll be seeing a whole lot more of Huerta soon when Wakanda Forever hits theaters on November 11. Watch the heart-pounding first trailer below:
Darson
So I’m a racist because this is NOT the version of Namor I have spent nearly 50 years enjoying. Totally screwing things up and disgarding nearly 70+ years of canon. Let’s screw with ALL ABOUT EVE, any of Judy’s movies, Cher needs to go polka. Then we can talk.
Ricanthony
Someone call the whambulance, please. How is this screwing anything up? And, yes, I know the history of Namor. Sooooo, again, what is the issue? When you begin with “So I’m not a racist…” usually means that you are. You probably lost your damn mind with The Little Mermaid.
abfab
Someone needs an entire case of ExLax….damn boy, roll with the changes will ya?
Sister Bertha Bedderthanyu
I agree and this clip doesn’t exactly make me want to grab the sleeping bag and wait for its premier. This guy look nothing like Namor nor a super hero and his costume nor body is in line with the Prince Namor comic book hero that I used to buy out of a comic book machine for fifteen cents back in the 1960’s. For those of you who have no idea who or what the original Prince Namor was a YouTube search will make you understand better what Darson and I are getting at. It hurts to see what I always felt was a gay icon that preceded the Stonewall riots finally make it to the big screen be cast wrong.
yancha
You can still read those old comics and be happy, but you chose to be publicly racist?

I loved coming books as a kid and as long as they are true to the spirit of the conic Im fine with any changes they want to make. This man is. beautiful and Although I don’t remember this character it doesn’t matter. I w3as able to adjust to all the different Batman and s[idermans so think changes are fine. My biggest fandom was lots and don’t sweat the small stuff as I had to wait 57 years to get Peter Jackson and sat thru some horrible knockoffs. Funny thin is some knock offs and their changes have been interesting. Being gay and out my entire life I only get nuts. with IMPORTANT things like our rights
dbmcvey
Wow. You’re a snowflake.
dbmcvey
So, Sister Bertha Bedderthanyu,
What you’re telling us is that you’re old.
NickW
This is absolutely the Namor I have spent nearly 50 years enjoying, so, yeah, you might want to really think about what’s making you so mad.
Kangol2
I have no idea who Namor is but this actor is HOT! Please, showrunners, directors, etc. use him in more of your projects!
Ronbo
The world is on fire, Republicans are subverting democracy, rights are being rolled back and Queerty is lusting over comic books.
Just about right? Let’s hope the kids care enought about reality to register and vote.
m
Sexy Namor. The character hates humans though ?
dbmcvey
Wow Ronbo, if only we could all be as righteous as you.
You can read about comic books and vote. We can do more than one thing.
Kenny C
Clutch your pearls! I am so shocked. You mean they didn’t have brown super heroes in your 1950s and 1960s comic books?!…..I wonder why? Self reflection please. Yes you are close minded, old and rigid at best, racist at worst.
Prax07
Yeah that’s definitely Not Namor. That’s Marvel movie execs being woke. Wasn’t planning on seeing the movie anyway.
mateo
I know nothing about the character, I’ve never read a Marvel comic book nor have I ever seen a Marvel movie (didn’t even watch the enclosed clip), and I’m 70 years old. Having said that, I’m contemplating starting a cult which is centered around Tenoch Huerta’s nipples.
JED08
He’s definitely HOT.
Just.my.opinion
I see nothing to get excited about.
dbmcvey
But luckily, that’s Just.your.opinion.
SoloMcDaniel
If they went with a “comics accurate” looking Namor, he’d probably come off looking like a buff Spock from “Star Trek” (and yes I know Namor came before Spock).
Bosch
Seriously? We’re still complaining about the skin colours of actors who play fictional characters? It’s considered woke to not have a “Whites Only” sign at a casting call?
mz.sam
Is that what you call a Marvel costume design…a third-grader’s bean strung neckpiece with an old pair of Dollar Tree green sleep shorts? Sheesh!
abfab
LOL!
