Senator Hillary Clinton won the Kentucky primary tonight, further fueling her seemingly doomed presidential campaign. In addition to opening her speech with an ode to cancer-stricken Ted Kennedy, Clinton repeated a familiar claim: she has more popular votes and thus deserves the Democratic nomination. One problem: we’re not sure she actually won the popular vote.

It really kind of sucks that we have to choose between two people who could make awesome presidents. Even (and I know I’ll get flamed for this one) McCain isn’t as horrible a choice as most Republicans. This is going to be a very bittersweet election year. Top that with the possibility of losing Kennedy and we’re in for a very wold one.
jules
OK, I’m tired of this staged shit. First there was the guy with the boxing gloves in two of her speaches (ala Rocky) and now there is flaming faggo (just to her right) at the KFC rally tonight. We get it Hillary… you’re for us, baggage and all.
hisurfer
She’s in a hard spot right now. Obama has won, yet it’s too late in the game for her to bow out. She has to play it out at this point.
Charley
Dumbed down inbred Kentucky and West Virginia are not America. Obama gets the young and college educated vote, and is for advancing education. McCain and Clinton rarely mention education, afraid to lose their gap toothed big eared hillbilly voting base.
Roy Pyatt
I am disappointed that the DNC may not count FL and MI. As a long time Democrat I may not vote Democrat this time around as even one disenfranchised voter is too many.
Mrs. Clinton is leading in votes cast. That is not disputable!
Roy Pyatt
Oh and Charley should be ashamed. What a pathetic bunch of BS!
Charley
Roy
Nothing personal meant towards you, unless you take it as such. Those two states go Republican in the Presidential election, anyway.
beefy
charley- clinton’s win in MA, NJ, PA discredits your theory.
CHURCHILL-Y
Roy Pyatt
If the democratic party wants to have a chance at winning in november they need to count FL and MI.
Don’t pay any attention to people like charley and jules they just insult because they know how vulnerable their candidate is and they know the delegates are also taking notice of it.
No Democratic candidate has won the Presidency without West Virginia since 1916.
Kentucky is reflective of Obamas problem in winning key swing states like Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida and others. Hillary is winning the popular vote and the states needed to win in november against the republicans.

NObama!!!
Mr C
It really doesn’t matter. Unfortunately there are a lot of her supporters who just do not want to vote for a Black Man for this job theory or no theory. The exit polls show it. We never saw it like this before because a minority has never gotten thus far.
And MA, PA, and NJ have their little biases as well. However, the other parts of the country don’t see it that way. By the way Barack also gets ” THE WORKING CLASS, BLUE COLLAR, LUNCHBUCKET, WHITE WESTINGHOUSE WASHER MACHINE, and GE STEAM IRON, White workers also, And did you know they come in other flavors as well. i.e. Black, Latino,Asian (OK maybe not so many Asians).
Bottom line she is in it at this point to be the VP Candidate and SHOULD NOT be denied that. After all she deserves it and has worked hard for it!
Obama/Clinton 08′
CHURCHILL-Y
Mr C ,
Can’t you just stop injecting race in every single post? I know you can’t. Many of senator Clintons supporters could care less if his skin was indigo, he is inexperienced and lacks good judgement in his associations. Hillary knows the ground and the type of work needed to bring this country back from the abyss from day 1.

NObama!!!

I actually want Hillary for VP. I don’t think the first female president should get the job because of who she’s married too.
Mr C
By the way even with Florida counted she DOES NOT have the popular vote. SORRY.
She is saying what Karl Rove is saying lets get real (KARL ROVE)???? A democrats nightmare.
And as far as this swing states BULL!
Well then lets do this. Lets the superdelegates give it to her and say “We feel Barack can’t win”
OKAY, Do you really think his supporters would vote for her after that? GET REAL!!
She would STILL LOSE AND LOSE HORRIFICALLY
So some Clinton supporters especially(i.e that Churchill fag) who keeps putting up a bogus link on Obama think you really have the upper hand.
Please just remember this. Anger cuts both ways and the democratic party loses all together.
Everyone knows how the damn South feels about Blacks just look at what happen in the LA,MS,NC,TN primaries with the GOP Obama commercials. and also the exit polls after the elections…
Enough said.
I guess it will be NOBAMA and it won’t be no Hillary neither.
Then what??????????
Mr C
YOU ARE A DAMN LIAR MS CHURCHILL THE EXIT POLLS SIMPLY SAY MOST WHITES VOTED FOR CLINTON ESPECIALY IN KY.
AND????????? THIS WOMAN HAS NO EXPERIENCE EITHER HER HUSBAND HAS IT AND HIS DAY HAS COME AND GONE!
GET OVER IT!
CHURCHILL-Y
That’s right Mr C keep showing your true self. I know you and your alter ego underbear1 have a difficulty with research, so here:
“THIS WOMAN HAS NO EXPERIENCE EITHER HER HUSBAND HAS IT”-Mr C
“She was the First Lady of Arkansas from 1979 to 1981 and 1983 to 1992
First Lady of the United States
In office
January 20, 1993 – January 20, 2001
Senator
from New York
Incumbent
Assumed office
January 3, 2001
Serving with Chuck Schumer
As First Lady of the United States, her major initiative, the Clinton health care plan, failed to gain approval from the U.S. Congress in 1994. In 1997 and 1999, Clinton played a role in advocating for the establishment of the State Children’s Health Insurance Program, the Adoption and Safe Families Act, and the Foster Care Independence Act.
Clinton has served on five Senate committees: Committee on Budget (2001–2002),[201] Committee on Armed Services (since 2003),[202] Committee on Environment and Public Works (since 2001),[201] Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (since 2001)[201] and Special Committee on Aging.[203] She is also a Commissioner of the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe[204] (since 2001).[205]”-wikipedia
Thanks for the “Churchill fag” compliment wouldn’t expect anything less from you.
There you have it people, that and worst people than Mr.c is what we can expect in an Obama government.
NObama!!!

Anyone who actually clicked the link associated with this post can clearly see that Clinton is not ahead in the popular vote. The only way Clinton is ahead is with FL and MI counted and ZERO votes for Obama from Michigan. Now this is a complete disenfranchisement of those who voted “uncommitted” in Michigan because Obama and Edwards weren’t on the ballot. This also includes “estimates” of the caucus states which is also completely undemocratic.
The popular vote simply cannot be used as an accurate measure anyway, because many caucus states don’t report it and no one will ever agree on what the most accurate “estimate” is. Do states that played by the rules and had caucuses deserve to be disenfranchised, but not FL and MI who broke the rules?
There has to be at least some consequence to these states breaking the rules. Otherwise, the same thing will happen with many more states in four years.
Jesse
Using time as a first lady as “experience” is like claiming you have operating room experience because your husband is a brain surgeon.
In actuality, Obama has more legislative experience. Hillary has more legislative experience on the federal level, but ultimately has less experience as a publicly elected official in any capacity.
beefy
if MA had it’s ‘little prejudices’ then how did Deval Patrick win over the rich white lady??
Mr C
Thanks Jessie,
You said it all. She served on these commitees and what has she accomplished????????
I’m from NY
NOTHING!!!!!!
By the way
When Bill Clinton came from Arkansas he had no Presidential experience. However we all rallied behind him and he learned from the elderstates men there.
The same with G.W Bush# 2 his father’s peeps schooled him and did a AWFUL JOB also.
So if that be the case.
What is your real reason for NoBama….
Then again who cares.
We move forward and you can stay in the background where you belong.

CHURCHILL-Y
beefy, don’t you know that it’s only prejudice when it’s convenient to them? Obama supporters are more than ready to jump on anyone who has the pairs needed to point out his flaws. Case in point Mr c -“Please just remember this. Anger cuts both ways and the democratic party loses all together.” His alter ego “underbear1” was more clear, they are going to riot.
Obama supporters especially his solid voting block think they can move our votes by intimidation and guilt trips(accusing people who don’t vote for him as being racist), but I and many others are not willing to let his associations, lack of inexperience and other faults spiral off into space and let everybody forget it. I love this country and the freedoms I enjoy here to much to just throw it out in the trash just because some people believe that the American public owes them everything they don’t have.

Churchill just wanted to get back to you regarding your previous post in similar thread.
Church:
You’ve said the word “militant” 8 times in just this thread alone with two “Hussein” references thrown in for good measure and it seems like it’s a facile attempt to stoke the fears and anxieties of non-blacks on here and further polarize those who are characterized as militant or angry if they support BHO — BillieX even made the disclaimer. The assertion that my default support for Obama (like most blacks) is predicated on race is patently false. Just as you presumably support HRC for her stance on issues, I support BHO for his positions on domestic/social, international, environmental and economic issues. I do have issues with HRC’s “tangible record”, her veracity and questionable tactics such as the one offered here: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/05/10/opinion/10herbert.html?_r=1&oref=slogin. As to your contention that “Hillary Clinton could have been mother Theresa and she still would have lost the african american vote once Obama announced his candidacy†Billie X astutely points out that “[w]hen Obama announced he was going to run, he did not have the black vote” as black support would have to be earned since he was an unknown quantity. Despite HRC’s dubious tactics in running her campaign, she still has black support from Charles Rangel, to the Mayor of Philadelphia, to relatives and black friends of mine and countless others. As to BHO’s stance on LGBT issues, I feel that he, like most “mainstream” candidates including HRC — see the Queerty thread on gay marriage in CA and candidate responses, has constrained himself (e.g. supposedly not taking the picture with Newsome) so as to not become a fringe/marginal candidate and lose potential votes. Is it hurtful and insulting? undoubtedly yes, because we as LGBT deserve all the equal rights that heterosexuals can take for granted and it’s long overdue. I think it would be a different story if he were to get into office where he would exercise his constitutional law background (e.g., progressive appointments to the Supreme Court, etc.) rather than appointing strict constructionists like McCain and would be a more vocal stalwart champion of LGBT rights (he’s signaled as much when he references gays in his speeches saying we cannot be scapegoated and maligned and further polarize us).
You misinterpreted the quote: “Jeesh, WE’RE giving you a black president already, when is enough, enough, Can I just write my check and get it over with!†You erroneously thought I was alluding to reparations when I was actually pointing out that BHO would be the president of the United States, and representing AMERICANS in all of our disparate backgrounds, and not the president for just black people, and it’s condescending that this poster is stating that this is something just being given to blacks. So no, I, nor anyone else for that matter, is looking for a handout, a standard trope often used against black people. Besos y Abrazos, Afro

Yeah, that’s right Churchill, continue to sow the seeds of dissension and polarization and paint yourself like some loyal patriot: “I love this country and the freedoms I enjoy here to much to just throw it out in the trash just because some people believe that the American public owes them everything they don’t have.”
I guess you’ve taken over for Leland. Unfortunate that my full posts are still not appearing as it would provide you with much tutelage and elucidation, things you clearly need.
Michael J
The notion that she has more popular votes is totally BS, because the math only works out that way if you 1) exclude caucuses AND 2) count the votes of both FL and MI, the two states having primaries which all candidates (including Clinton) agreed would not count because the state parties violated rules against early primaries. Except for a fundraiser in FL, neither Clinton nor Obama (or the others, to the best of my knowlege) campaigned in either MI and FL. And only Clinton’s name appeared on the MI ballot because unlike the campaigns of every other candidate, Clinton’s campaign did not pull her name off of the ballot, even though they were then voicing the notion that the primary wouldn’t count.
I haven’t done the math myself, but I’ve read elsewhere that even if you count the FL votes and don’t count the caucus votes (both questionable moves), Obama is still ahead by around 146,000 votes.
The notion that Clinton can win in November but Obama cannot is based on shakey evidence. Sure Obama has a problem with largely white Appalachia and states that border it (OH, IN). But Clinton has a problem in out west and in most of the mid-west, including states which Democrats probably need to win — WA, OR, MN, WI, and IA. And with her campaign’s subtle appeals to racism (as well as xenophobia and homophobia), Clinton has managed to alienated many black voters, who are essential to any Democratic Presidential win. Finally over time, Clinton’s favorable ratings have not increased and her unfavorable ratings have remained high. Obama’s favorable ratings tend to increase as people get to know him, and his unfavorable ratings are not as high.
So, it can also be argued that Obama is a stronger candidate. Actually I think any Democrat is likely to beat McCain in November, since he seems to be running for Bush’s third term, so I think people should vote for whom they would most like to be President. Four years ago many people voted for Kerry simply because they thought his military background made him the strongest possible candidate, and look how well that turned out.
James
CHURCHILL-Y,
“I love this country and the freedoms I enjoy here to much to just throw it out in the trash just because some people believe that the American public owes them everything they don’t have.”
OMG. You are so funny. You have set the argument up perfectly. Of course everything you want is fair and just. While those Obama supporters demand for something to be handed to them, which they didn’t earn like you. Gosh. How does it feel to be such a perfect patriot?
Afroguapo
James
Presumably Churchill-Y is one of the hard-working Americans HRC extols. How do 15% of these people still not know that he isn’t Muslim (and if he were, so what)?
bobito
The only way Hillary has a lead in the popular vote is if FL & MI are counted, AND Obama gets 0 votes for MI (his name wasn’t on the ballot). So, in the name of the “fairness” that Hillary’s supporters keep insisting upon, why don’t we give the 238,168 Michigan votes that went to “an undisclosed democratic candidate who is not Hillary Clinton” to Obama, since he is the only democratic candidate left who is not Hillary.
Of course, that would mean that Hillary would not lead in the popular vote under any configuration, but it would get the FL & MI delegates seated, and would be closer to something one could consider as “fair”. This way, the 44.8% of MI voters who definitely didn’t vote for Hillary will have their votes counted, too.
CHURCHILL-Y
“But Clinton has a problem in out west and in most of the mid-west, including states which Democrats probably need to win — WA, OR, MN, WI, and IA.”-Michael J
States out west and mid-west Clinton has and will carry to the presidency(unless Obama is coronated in a hurry)-TX, AZ, NV, CA, NM, IN, OH . In the majority of these states Obama has problems not only with your much hated whitey but also with other groups. Afroguapo, you’re going to throw up from all that spinning that you are doing, just make sure you have your seat belt on tight hun.
And excuse me if I can’t go to yours and James Meeks class but I’m not interested in that kind of tutelage. A piece of advice though, just make sure you keep it in the D-low or otherwise you know how you’ll end up at his and your buddies hands if they find out about your preferences.

And I am affiliated with Meeks because we happen to both be of African descent? Classy Churchill, real classy. I have been out since college, my parents know, my relatives know and I am far from being on the DL. I also intermittently attend two churches that are gay affirming — one of which is black and very receptive to a LGBT audience. It’s tragic and myopic that you lump categories like black people or institutions like the black church into one prototype, not realizing how varied they are just like the white church. And again, DL is not synonymous with black. Just ask Ted Haggard, Larry Craig, Jim McGreevey from back when, Tom Foley and the married congressman in Florida trolling for black dick in a restroom.
