How incredibly dumb. 1) He renders a moral judgment in favor of promiscuity – or at least rendering promiscuity morally neutral – without laying out the basis of that judgment. 2) He assumes that our sexual orientation places us in a different moral system, 3) He assumes that shame is, by definition, bad (again, without laying out what makes something bad or good), 4) He opposes “judgment” even though the entire quote consists of nothing but judgments and 5) He assumes that promiscuity is unrelated to health, even though every medical and social science survey of the 50 years has shown that it is directly related to poor physical and mental health.
Other than that, great argument! By all means, let’s all follow this Pied Piper down to the river where liberation surely awaits us!

I had a very different response to the video.
The origins of slut-shaming are rooted in heterosexual behavior; it exists as a means to control and repress women. As gay men we shouldn’t feel compelled to support such a negative social construct. Tying your level of sexual activity to your ‘quality’ as a person is a pretty specious argument.
Does your number of partners increase the likelihood of your having contracted an STI at some point in your life? Absolutely. Can it have a negative effect on your mental health? Yes, studies have shown a correlation there. Does ANY of that impact your ‘worth’ as a human being? No. Not at all.

Shame is a bad stimulus for behavior change, and often an ineffective long term solution.
That is one of the original cornerstones of the gay movement.

History has many examples of cultures and civilizations of embracing “sexual liberation”, promiscuity and licentiousness in their late stages – just before their collapse. While the West celebrates slut walks, gay pride and transgender kids, its birth rates are plummeting and it imports people from more intolerant, regressive, patriarchal and homophobic societies where women are literally treated like breeding machines. How do the pwogwessives and libertines think is going to end?

I think it depends on your definition of sex. Oral? Just anal? does it have to be in a bed or does the bathroom at the local gay bar count? does sex with a straight man count? does a 3 way count as 2 ? Do facials count? How about on the chest? I’ve dated a few sluts in my time…meh, they don’t make very good boyfriends. A couple of them, I’m pretty sure were escorts (they traveled a lot for “Modeling” but heck if I ever saw what they “modeled”).
Going throw a slut phase is natural and healthy but as a way of life (over a year)….it’s probably best for sluts to date other sluts…there’s nothing shameful about it….it’s just a unique lifestyle that takes a certain type of personality.

A lot of sluts, gay or straight, end up being sex addicts. They lack impulse control, crave for attention, and use sex to escape their personal problem. When you hold a mirror on them and show their true color, they’d accuse you of slut shaming. You just can’t win so it’s better just to let them be the sluts.

At some point we all get fossilized and get stuck in another time and space, both physically and psychologically. Personally I think the younger generation is smarter. They recognize early on how valuable and wise to have a stable and faithful relationship built on trust. Most gay guys I know older than 35 stop having one night stands and most of them are in a monogamous relationship.
