This just in: First Lady Melania Trump’s private flights between New York and Washington, D.C. during the first six months of her husband’s presidency cost taxpayers a whopping $675,000, according to military records obtained by the Wall Street Journal.
The documents show that from January to June 2017, Melania took 19 trips to LaGuardia Airport and another nine to Palm Beach’s international airport. And all so little Barron could finish the fifth grade without being uprooted mid-school year.
Trump spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham poo-pooed the reports, saying Melania was just being a good mother.
“It is no secret that Mrs. Trump lived in New York City the first few months of the administration so that her son could finish school,” Grisham said. “The trips mentioned in this story are examples of Mrs. Trump juggling dual roles–putting her son first while also fulfilling some of her duties as First Lady.”
For comparison, Michelle Obama solo traveling costs were $2.8 million over eight years.
In other Melania news: The First Lady has allegedly been staying at a luxury D.C. hotel away from her husband following reports that he had an affair with porn star Stormy Daniels back in 2006 then paid her $130,000 in hush money.
“It’s been upsetting and humiliating,” a source from inside the White House told the Daily Mail. “Her relationship with President Trump has become strained.”
In addition to skipping out on their thirteenth wedding anniversary, Melania was supposed to join her husband at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland last week but backed out at the last minute to instead go on a solo trip to West Palm Beach.
The White House insider adds, “Melania spends three to four days a week away from the White House and has stayed at a hotel in D.C. multiple times in January, often for days at a time. She also travels up to New York.”
“Melania seems to be actively limiting the time she spends with her husband. … If she is seen with him in public she’s very robotic, she smiles and then they go their separate ways.”
We can hardly wait to see how much that hotel bill is gonna cost us!
