Drag star Sahara Davenport, a popular contestant on RuPaul’s Drag Race, passed away suddenly on October 1 at age 27. On December 14, Sahara’s partner and fellow Drag Race contender Manila Luzon  is producing a tribute show at New York’s XL nightclub, featuring some of the many artists’ affected by Sahara’s passing.

Born Antoine Ashley, Davenport was raised in Dallas and attended Southern Methodist University, where he earned a BFA in dance. In addition to competing on Drag Race‘s second season, Davenport scored appearances in One Life to Live, Judge Karen and the video for David Guetta and Chris Willis’ “Gettin’ Over,” and released her own dance singles.
