Mere hours before the death of David Bowie, Carnegie Hall announced a star-studded tribute concert featuring the late musician’s iconic tunes.
The concert was naturally reconfigured as a memorial show, and a second show at Radio City Music Hall was added with even more artists.
The bill is a who’s who of talent, from Debbie Harry to The Pixies, The Roots to Cyndi Lauper.
Former R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe is set to play at both sold out shows, and boy do we wish we had tickets.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
Stipe and his ginormous beard dropped by The Tonight Show on Tuesday and knocked it out the park with a stripped-down piano cover of “The Man Who Sold The World.”

Given Mr. Stipe’s sotto voce, a harpsichord may have been less piercing, though I loved the last tinkling notes the pianist tacked on to the end. The host could have acknowledge the pianist. Thanks for the tribute to Bowie. Much appreciated.
