Fervidly right-wing “historian” David Barton recently went ahead and burdened the general public with an 18-part DVD series called Foundations of Freedom — available here for $79.95, no thanks — that features Barton and various guests hanging out and interminably pondering everything from “the formation of American law and the judicial system to Biblically-based economics, science, government [and how] our Founding Fathers used the Bible as a blueprint for America’s freedoms.” (Could this be the cure to modern binge-watching that we’ve all been waiting for?)
On a whim, Barton trots out surprise guest Michele Bachmann — still a member of Congress at the time of filming — who wastes no time hunkering down to regale her delighted interviewee with from-the-hip talk about how LGBTQ-inclusive hate crimes are a form of “tyranny.”
Here’s but a taste of her scabby thought process:
“That’s what’s so brilliant about our form of government and God’s form of government — that we are equal before the law. God says He’s not a respecter of persons, He’s not partial, so why should we, why should government be partial? … A creator God created us equal.”
Really getting into it, Bachmann pulls no punches as she starts crowing and complaining about hate crime legislation that passed in 2009, which includes protections against crimes based on sexual orientation. Again, like someone studying for the SAT with flash cards, Bachmann insists this is “tyranny.”
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
“It’s political correctness that rules the day. So when you’re part of a favored group, then you get special benefits that nobody else gets. That’s the very form of tyranny because when government supposedly gives something — government has nothing to give, they have to take it away from other people. So when they give it to that certain group, that means, by definition, they’re taking it away from you.”
Take it away, Michele:

Still trying to extend her 15min, and oblivious to the fact that she’s a set of curtains.

Why is this twit even relevant?
KentonForshee
She thinks her religion gives her the right to tyrannize others, but any concessions of equality to anyone her religion doesn’t deem worthy is automatically tyranny. She’s a dumbass who should go join ISIS. She clearly doesn’t know what country she’s living in.
Minority’s have rights here, Missy.

Dear Queerty: This is the last time I give you traffic for anything with Michele Bachmann’s name in it. I can’t be part of the process that keeps her even close to relevant…
ted72
This is nothing new and I’d wish queerty would stop covering hey as she’s no longer in Congress anyway. She’s gone! Don’t give her Airtime!
JessPH
Who is this c*nt?

@Guy068: @ted72: I totally agree.

Laws that fail to protect ALL citizens is the real tyranny!
GayEGO
Actually, all LGBT supporting news media should not give Michelle Bachman any coverage as she is from the dark ages and does not have any valid facts.
BlueDude
Y’all may as well get prepared for the fu©kn GOP to trot out every anti-gay nitwit bigot who’s ever said a bad word or had any negative opinion about LGBTs. The closer it gets to November, the worse it’s gonna get! At least their field of “candidates” is shrinking.
Creamsicle
Fine. She wants all groups to be treated with equality under the law? Let’s see how she would feel about repealing the tax free status of religious organizations. I’d love to see her back peddle on that one. Kathy Griffin allegedly confronted her on an escalator once asking if she felt that she was born a bigot or if it was learned behavior. He only response was, “That’s an intestine questiom,I’ll have to get back to you on that one!”

Always a weird double standard to keep people as confused as possible.

Not seeing the regime in the bible that the USA resembles. Slaves were equal?
rand503
Well, if he is right that our founding fathers used the bible as blue print, that would explain why they were cool with slavery. I guess we should be biblical and bring it back.

Victim….I bet she regrets marrying a closet case

She’ll never be a “great” person in the annals of history, nor a great leader–she’s just a dominatrix without a whole lot of subs following her. Her intellect is too sub-par–on the level of Sarah Palin — to be a great thinker, which is needed to be a great leader or person. Her vision is limited and myopic to make decent decisions and she relies on lies and false teachings for her thinking and that makes her weak–her thought processes are a house of cards. She’s destructive, backwards and childish. And I think she knows all that, hence the screeching and stamping of feet.

@BlueDude:
I think you’re right. We’ll just wait and see and then sit back and chuckle at their parade of nonsense.
