Mike Pence can’t stop obsessing about gay Olympian Adam Rippon

Vice President Mike Pence is like that guy on Grindr you turned down who won’t stop messaging you every day hoping you’ve changed your mind. It may be time for gay Olympian Adam Rippon to hit “block” on the Veep’s nonstop attempts to meet up.

After Rippon told the press that he didn’t think Pence was a suitable choice to lead the US delegation to the 2018 Winter Olympics since he supported conversion therapy, Pence’s feathers were ruffled. His staff denied the allegation despite blatant evidence that the Vice President posted on his former campaign website.

After the news broke that Rippon would refuse to meet with Pence during a traditional meet and greet before the opening of the games, Pence grew concerned that the popular Olympian had called him out for his blatant anti-LGBT stances over the years.

Following the revelation that Pence’s staff called the US Olympic Committee to try to set up a private meeting with Rippon, Pence took to Twitter to decry the story as #FAKENEWS! Rippon reportedly rebuffed the offer.

On the plane carrying the Veep to the opening ceremony in Seoul, Korea, a White House official told the press that Pence’s office contacted the Olympic committee to offer a private meeting, but not demand one. Pence’s deputy chief of staff Jarrod Agen, meanwhile, told reporters that his office hadn’t requested the meeting.

Pence’s spokesperson insists that he has never supported conversion therapy, but can’t explain what he meant when he posted on his website that the Ryan White Care Act, which provides funding for HIV/AIDS patients, should be reauthorized “only after completion of an audit to ensure that federal dollars were no longer being given to organizations that celebrate and encourage the types of behaviors that facilitate the spreading of the HIV virus. Resources should be directed toward those institutions which provide assistance to those seeking to change their sexual behavior.”

Pence followed up on his allegations of fake news (despite confirmation from the White House) by singling out Rippon for more “support” wrapped in another denial.

“I’m not trying to pick a fight with the vice president of the United States,” Rippon told reporters after Pence continued to obsess about Rippon’s harsh words.

Rippon also said he will not attend the customary trip to the White House after the games are over.

“I said no,” he said bluntly.
