In her first interview since the controversial VMA performance that left her dangling off the front side of Robin Thicke, Miley Cyrus says her provocative behavior has “made history,” and you’re really “over thinking it.”
The 20-year-old pop queen wore a blouse that covered her shoulders in the interview with MTV, where she added that her performance was no more shocking than the legendary Britney/Madonna kiss in 2003. “What’s amazing is I think now, we’re three days later and people are still talking about it. You’re thinking about it more than I thought about it when I did it.” Uh… obviously!
Miley also says she doesn’t “pay attention to the negative,” but the opinion of one of her fellow pop stars is pretty hard to ignore. In an interview with Moviefone this week, One Direction frontman Harry Styles called Miley’s twerking “inappropriate.”
“Especially for the age groups it’s aimed at,” he said. “I think it’s, you know, promoting promiscuity.”

Um, the Hindenburg blowing up in a ball of flames made history too. Miley hurt her brand with that bad performance. In the end it was just bad and desperate. There is such a thing as bad press. She’s making bad choices at the moment, but her time in the spotlight is not up yet. Although she may be hastening the end of her relevance.
If I were Harry, however, I would have steered clear of the issue, but he is not wrong.

Hitler made history too, but no one wants to claim him. Miley’s performance was terrible — she can’t sing, she can’t dance, and she certainly does not know how to entertain. I have to agree with Polaro. Her performance was desperate. She has been doing this “Look, look, I am a big girl now” act for four years and it has gotten tired about three years ago. If she really wants to be an adult, she needs to start acting like one.

The tongue sticking out constantly is a red herring. The protuberance diverts attention from her eyes, the windows to the soul, and this, to me, is indicative of a liar. It could be a sign of defiance, overt sexuality, or merely a protective mechanism to deal with the pressure of the spotlight. Just as jewelry, adorning the tongue, lips, eyebrows also distracts from the eyes, and has me wondering, “inherent liar?” the tongue serves as a hindrance.
I once worked with a nurse who made bizarre, gargoyle-like distortions of her face, every time we happened upon one another. Turning the corner and walking into the med room would set off this reaction. Coming around a corner, in the hallway, this unsettling facial distortion would instantly occur. Her facial contortion was being used to distract us from her eyes and, as it turned out, she was stealing narcotics.
